  • Only Flinders University students are allowed to campaign in the Flinders University student elections. Voting takes place 13 - 15 October.

     

    FUSA manages a registration system to verify that campaigners are students. If you are a student wanting to register to campaign, please continue.

     

    You will need your Student ID, phone number and email address to complete your registration.

     

    You will be advised when your campaigner ID is ready for collection.

  • Student elections are conducted according to the Election Regulations.

    There are some things that are not permitted in campaigning.You should familiarise yourself with these rules.

    The Returning Officer oversees the elections. The Returning Officer can take disciplinary action against a person who either does something not permitted or plans to do so.

    Per the Regulations:

    Only students may campaign. Campaigning is allowed:

    a)      Online from 1 business day before the polling period, using authorised election materials.

    b)      In person from 9am the day before polling begins. Campaigners must wear identification provided by FUSA while campaigning on campus.

     

    A candidate, group of candidates, or campaigner must not engage in prohibited conduct. Prohibited conduct includes:

    a)      Coercing or intimidating electors.

    b)      Engaging in racism or vilification on the basis of race, nationality or descent, religion, sex, gender, sexuality, or disability. Campaigners are separately bound by the Flinders University Equal Opportunity Policy.

    c)      Engaging in dishonest practices in relation to the election.

    d)      Distributing election materials not approved by the Returning Officer.

    e)      Making or allowing any untrue, misleading, or discriminatory statements in relation to an election to be printed, published, verbalized, or distributed.

    f)       Making false statements, either knowingly or without due care, about another candidate.

    g)      Paying for a campaigner.

    h)      Impersonating another person.

    i)        Defacing, damaging, destroying, or removing any notice, list, or document posted by the Returning Officer.

    j)        Defacing, damaging, destroying, or removing any election material without the approval of the publisher of that material.

    k)      Engaging in intimidating, aggressive, threatening, or harassing behaviour towards others.

    l)        Engaging in behaviour that risks the health and safety of themselves or others, including a person’s cultural safety.

    m)   Engaging in disruptive behaviour at a polling place.

    n)      Hindering the Returning Officer or election staff in their duties.

    o)      Hindering the Election Tribunal's duties.

    p)      Voting on another person’s behalf.

    q)      Failing to uphold the secret ballot.

    r)       Affixing election materials, other than banners, to Flinders University buildings or property excepting on the concrete bollards of the Plaza or general notice boards.

    s)       Campaigning in computer labs, designated teaching spaces (including online teaching spaces), polling places, the Library, any eating or drinking areas, Yungkurrinthi Trruku and the Student Centre, and any other exclusion zone determined by the Returning Officer.

    t)       Offering, receiving, or conferring a personal benefit in exchange for a vote. This does not apply to declarations of policy

    u)      Using FUSA resources, including but not limited to photocopiers and stationery, for campaigning.

    v)      Distributing election material through the assets of FUSA or an affiliated club, collective or association, including mailing lists and social media accounts.

    w)    Distributing election material through the University Global Directory, University mailing lists, or any other University platform unless it is a personal communication to a recipient personally known to the sender.

    x)      Failing to display identification provided by FUSA while campaigning on campus.
