The objective of the Ambassadors is to have fun and be the public relations arm of the Chamber. We accomplish this objective by providing assistance to new and existing members and guests, and attending existing members’ functions. Among some of the activities are: ribbon cuttings, Business of the Month presentations, Rise & Shines, special Chamber events, and VIBE at 5. Also, assisting the Chamber in the promotion of special events.
Purpose
The Chamber’s Ambassadors are an elite group of professionals who volunteer their time to provide a crucial link between the Chamber and its members. They help to ensure that all members receive the maximum benefit from their investment. Ambassadors are at the core of the community’s business activities. They enjoy the rewards of making new contacts, strengthening relationships, and accessing a wealth of information and resources. Their primary responsibilities are to assist the Chamber team with events and connecting with new and existing members on a regular basis.
Qualities of an Ambassador
Enthusiastic, outgoing personality, possess good organizational skills, dependable, and honest. Individuals who make successful Ambassadors believe in and support the efforts of the Chamber. They are outgoing and enjoy meeting new people and providing positive support and encouragement to colleagues. They are sociable, strong contributors to any group and enjoy spending time with other professionals. The Ambassador’s goal is to represent a wide variety of industries and businesses.
What does an Ambassador Do?
Ambassadors are volunteers who help promote the Gainesville Area Chamber of Commerce business community and support Chamber functions. Projecting a positive image, assisting with volunteer roles at events, and reaching out to welcome new members are among the primary activities of an Ambassador. Examples of Ambassador tasks include: calling or visiting with a new member over coffee, inviting members to events, assisting with event registration table or greeting attendees, and holding the ribbon at ribbon cuttings. Ambassadors play an important role in the Gainesville Area Chamber of Commerce’s ongoing member engagement and retention because of their ability to provide a member perspective.

Requirements and Expectations
As a Gainesville Area Chamber of Commerce Ambassador, the following responsibilities are required of each Ambassador:
- Each Ambassador must complete an Ambassador application.
- Your business must be a Chamber member in good standing and you must be a listed representative with your company.
- Each Ambassador must attend at least two (2) Chamber events per year or one every six (6) months. Those events include Rise & Shine, VIBE at 5, Ribbon Cuttings, Business of the Month presentations, Golf Tournament, Depot Day, Annual Banquet, etc...
- Each Ambassador must respect the business of the Chamber of Commerce and, keeping that in mind, the confidentiality thereof. Discretion must be used when discussing Chamber matters.
- Each Ambassador will represent the Chamber in a professional manner at all times. Ambassadors are expected to have a general knowledge of the Chamber, its programs and initiatives.
- Make membership referrals as often as possible to Membership and Retention Manager.
Code of Conduct
As an Ambassador of the Gainesville Area Chamber of Commerce, you are expected to accept certain responsibilities, adhere to acceptable business principles in matters of personal conduct, and exhibit a high degree of personal integrity at all times. This not only involves sincere respect for the rights and feeling of others, but also demands, that in your business you refrain from any behavior that might be harmful to you, other Ambassadors, other Chamber Members, the Chamber, or that might be viewed unfavorably by current or potential Chamber Members, or by the public at large. As an Ambassador, your conduct reflects on the Chamber. You are, consequently, encouraged to observe the highest standards of professionalism at all times.
The following are just some of the specific acts that are banned but the list is NOT exclusive:
- Sexual Harassment
- Misrepresenting the Chamber to prospective new members
- Making false and misleading statements about what the Chamber can or cannot do for potential new members
- Making false impressions of your relation to the Chamber
Withdrawal
The Ambassador program is considered, "At Will". Any Ambassador may withdraw from the Ambassador program at any time, with or without cause. Upon withdrawal, the Ambassador will no longer be able to represent themselves out in the community as being an Ambassador of the Chamber.
Removal: The Ambassador Chairman shall have the authority to recommend to the Chamber President/CEO for the removal of an Ambassador. The Chamber Board of Directors can remove an Ambassador of the Chamber at any time, with or without cause. The following are just some of the specific acts that are not allowed, but the list is not exclusive.
- Violation of the Code of Conduct described above
- For conduct unbecoming a member or prejudicial to the aims or repute of the Chamber
Recognition Program
The top point earning Ambassador each month will be recognized with a photo on the Chamber's social media and newsletter. Ambassador of the Year will be selected by a combination of the highest points earned and voting of Ambassadors at the December Ambassador luncheon. Ambassadors are responsible for self-reporting points. Points are earned through checking in on the Ambassador app after attending a Chamber event.

The Gainesville Area Chamber of Commerce appreciates all members and the time you commit to the success of our Chamber.
Ambassadors will meet on the first Wednesday of even numbered months at 12:00 PM at the Chamber to discuss new businesses and plan upcoming events. Participation in any and all Chamber events is encouraged and appreciated.
