    Redbud Gallery Announces an Ex LIBRIS Bookplate Competition

  • While admiring a Book Plate designed by German Expressionist Bruecke artist Karl Schmidt-Rottluff, Sharon Kopriva mentioned that it would be interesting to hold an exhibition of bookplates.

    For five hundred years, numerous artists including Duerer, Chagall, Beardsley, and Kent have been commissioned to create Ex LIBRIS plates for various owners who treasured their books. We invite you to submit a design for our upcoming exhibition.

     

    DETAILS

    What: Original Ex LIBRIS design (one entry)

    Size: Under 6 x 8 inches. Typical sizes are 3 x 4.25 inches.

    Medium: Classical print making techniques include Intaglio, lithograph, serigraph, relief, wood and linocuts, collagraphs on paper.

    Signature: Each piece shall be signed by the artist.

    Design Motif: Open

    Fee: No fee

    Eligibility: All humans

    Artist base: Global

    Packing / Shipment to and from: By artist

    Prizes: 1st: $1,000; 2nd $750; 3rd: $500

    An exhibition of juror selected pieces will be held at Redbud Gallery in the spring of 2021.

  • 1 ) SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

    Titles and prices are to be included on your entry form.

    Image filenames should be in lowercase with spaces replaced by underscores and in the format: lastname_title.jpg

    Failure to name files in this way will not be considered.

    For example, Mary Smith's entry entitled Starry Night would look like the following: smith_starry_night.jpg

     

    2) ENTRY INFORMATION

    Please use upper and lowercase letters.  The information you enter is used on wallcards verbatum.
