  • Assumption of Risk & Liability Waiver

  • I understand that participation in the Gallatin Community Gun Club (“GCGC”) USCCA Concealed Weapons Permit (“CWP”) Class may involve classroom instruction, dry-fire exercises, handling and manipulation of firearms, ammunition, holsters and related equipment, and live-fire range activities.

    1. Acknowledgment and Assumption of Risk

I understand that firearms training and shooting activities involve inherent and potentially serious risks, including, but not limited to, accidental or negligent firearm discharge, ricochet or fragmentation, equipment or ammunition malfunction, hearing or vision injury, burns, cuts, falls, property damage, serious bodily injury, permanent disability, paralysis, or death.

I acknowledge that these risks may result from my own actions or inactions, the actions or inactions of other participants, instructors, volunteers, Range Safety Officers, or third parties, the condition of firearms or equipment, or conditions at the training or range location.

I knowingly and voluntarily choose to participate in this course and assume the inherent risks associated with firearm handling, firearms training, and live-fire activities.

    2. Participant Responsibilities

    I agree to:

    • Follow the four universal firearm safety rules at all times.
    • Follow all instructions given by GCGC instructors and Range Safety Officers.
    • Immediately stop any activity when a cease-fire or other safety command is given.
    • Use appropriate eye and hearing protection during live-fire activities.
    • Inform an instructor of any unsafe condition, damaged equipment, firearm malfunction, or other safety concern.
    • Not participate while impaired by alcohol, cannabis, illegal drugs, medications, illness, fatigue, or any other condition that may interfere with my ability to safely participate.
    • Handle firearms only when and as directed by instructors or Range Safety Officers.

I understand that GCGC may immediately restrict or terminate my participation if instructors or Range Safety Officers determine that my conduct presents a safety concern.

    3. Release and Waiver of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, I release and hold harmless Gallatin Community Gun Club, its directors, officers, instructors, Range Safety Officers, volunteers, agents, representatives, and the owners or operators of any property or range used for the course from claims arising from the ordinary risks of my voluntary participation in the course, including claims for personal injury, death, or property damage.

This release is not intended to waive any rights or claims that cannot lawfully be waived under Montana law.

    4. Medical Treatment

In the event of an injury or medical emergency, I authorize GCGC personnel to provide or obtain reasonable emergency assistance, including contacting emergency medical services and providing first aid within the responder's level of training.

I understand that GCGC does not guarantee the availability or outcome of medical treatment and that I am responsible for medical expenses incurred as a result of my participation, except as otherwise required by law.

    5. Firearms & Equipment

I understand that I am responsible for ensuring that any personally owned firearm, ammunition, holster, or other equipment I bring to the course is safe, functional, appropriate for the activity, and used in accordance with instructor requirements.

I agree not to use ammunition, firearms, holsters, or equipment prohibited by GCGC, the instructor, Range Safety Officer, or host range.

    6. Course Completion

I understand that payment, attendance, or participation does not guarantee successful course completion or issuance of a certificate. GCGC instructors may decline to issue a completion certificate if I fail to complete required instruction or assessments, demonstrate required skills, or consistently follow firearm safety requirements.

Completion of this course does not guarantee that I will qualify for or receive any concealed weapons permit. Permit eligibility and issuance are determined by the appropriate governmental authority under applicable law.
