GSD Rescue Indy/Sanctuary Adoption Application

STOP! If you do not meet the requirements, please do not apply. A $20 application fee is now required. Fee is deducted from adoption fee or held as a credit should applicant want to wait on a dog in the future. The fee is to discourage those not ready or whom may not qualify based on the requirements.
This application is designed to attract the best homes who are committed and experienced with the GSD breed. This application may take 15 minutes or longer to complete. Please provide as much information as possible so that the rescue can offer the best matches for your unique needs.

You will be required to submit three specific pictures. For ease, applicants may want to take the pictures before completing this application.

They are:
1. ENTIRE backyard including the fence.
2. Exterior area where the dog enters and exits to go outside.
3. The fence including the gates.
The rescue highly prefers those who own their home versus rental situations based on landlord issues. If you rent, you must have your own private fenced backyard and provide letter of approval from landlord.

The rescue's mission is to provide homes for dogs their entire lives. For the well-being of the dogs aged 2 years and under, priority is given to adopters under 65 years of age to ensure best match for their energy and long-term needs.

What will you do to help an adopted dog adjust and succeed in your home?
What behaviors would you like to avoid, and how would you address them if they appeared later?
What is the most important behavior you look for when adopting a dog? PLEASE KEEP IN MIND THAT THE RESCUE CANNOT TEST FOR CAT FRIENDLINESS. If this is a requirement, adopter must safely determine compatibility.
