  • About the Scholarship:  

    Grambling University National Alumni Association - Metro Atlanta Chapter is committed to providing guidance and financial support to Grambling State University students from Georgia. Each year, as part of this commitment, the chapter awards scholarships to Metro Atlanta high school students who plan to attend Grambling State University and current Georgia full-time GSU students. 

    The chapter will be awarding multiple awards of $1,000 or more. All incoming and current Grambling State University students from Metro Atlanta are encouraged to apply. 

     

    Eligibility Requirements: 

    - Applicant must be enrolled at Grambling State University for Fall 2025. 

    - Applicant must have a cumulative GPA of 2.50 or greater.

    - Primary/permanent residence must be in Georgia, or the applicant must have graduated from a Metro Atlanta high school. 

    - Financial need and academic achievement will be considered. 

    - An essay and video must be submitted with the application. Applications without these items will not be considered.

    As part of your application, you are required to submit an original essay. Applications submitted without an essay will not be considered.

    ✅ Essay Guidelines:
    Length: 1,000 words
    Format: Typed, double-spaced, 12-point font (Arial)
    Submission: You may upload your essay as a document file (PDF or Word) or copy/paste the text into the appropriate field on the application form.
    Deadline: July 1, 2025

    1. Social Issues – The Ongoing Fight for Justice: Reflect on a contemporary social justice issue that is particularly relevant to the Black community. Discuss its impact and how you envision contributing to positive change as a future college graduate.

    2. Identity and Culture – The Power of Black Voices in Media: Analyze the role and representation of Black voices in today’s media and popular culture. How do these representations shape public perceptions, and how do you hope to contribute to a more nuanced and authentic portrayal?

    We encourage you to speak from personal experiences, passions, and perspectives. This is your opportunity to share your voice and vision.
