Request for funding for land acquisition/preservation
and land restoration/tree planting
Application deadline: 4:00 PM CST on Friday, February 21, 2025
Eligibility: Municipal and County governments in Pulaski, Faulkner, Saline, Lonoke, Grant, and Perry Counties, Arkansas
*Other units of government, special districts, and non-profit organizations may be eligible to apply in partnership with an eligible municipal or county government.
The Green Networks initiative seeks to fund projects with one ore more of these components:
- Land Acquisition/Preservation (LAP): $6,000,000 total funding available
• Total outputs: 455 acres purchased and/or placed in conservation easements
- Land Restoration/Tree Planting (LRTP): $9,500,000 total funding available
• Total outputs: 2,073 acres restored; 178,547 tree seedlings planted in urban areas
- Bicycle and Pedestrian Transportation Trails (Trails): $8,000,000 total funding available
• Total outputs: 4 miles of trails along or connecting to the Central Arkansas Regional Greenways System
• Note: The application process for trail construction will open in April 2025.

LAP and LRTP Projects will be evaluated according to the following targets:
- $ cost per metric ton of carbon dioxide or equivalent emissions (MTCO2e) reduced by the project (Metroplan will assist with these calculations)
- Minimum 50% of project benefiting low-income and disadvantaged communities (LIDACs) https://tinyurl.com/LIDACs-map
- The geographic distribution of the projects (program aims to award a minimum of 5 different projects across the region)
- Support implementation of the Central Arkansas Regional Greenway Network or other critical bicycle/pedestrian transportation connections
