Youth Leadership Council Application
The Greenville Humane Society Youth Leadership Council (YLC) is an exciting new program designed to empower 9th to 12th grade teens by helping them develop real-world leadership and business skills through fundraising, teamwork, and community service. Members will directly impact the lives of animals in need by promoting adoption, supporting shelter initiatives, and engaging the community in humane education.

As a YLC member, you will be expected to participate in monthly meetings, volunteer shifts, signature fundraisers, and special projects. These activities will not only provide hands-on experience in community engagement and animal welfare but will also help you develop leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills that are valuable in any future career.

The 2026-2027 Youth Leadership Council will run from August 2026 through April 2027. The council meets on the 2nd Thursday of each month, except on holidays or when conflicts arise with shelter operations. Mandatory orientation is scheduled for Saturday, July 25th from 9:30 AM to 12:00 PM at the Greenville Humane Society for selected candidates.

Please do not apply if you are not able to make the required time commitment at the above schedule.

Each applicant is required to request a recommendation from a mentor. Recommendation letter(s) can be from a teacher/coach/non-related mentor, etc. Please have the provider email them directly to Erin Simmons at erins@greenvillehumane.com to complete your application.
