Outdoor Basics - April 1, 7:00 pm Eastern via Zoom: Outdoor Basics is a class which authorizes you to take a troop/group on day outings at our camp properties and other natural areas. You will learn about girl readiness, progression, planning, hiking, dealing with emergencies, and dealing with poisonous plants and insects. You will also learn about GSK properties and how to reserve them. Outdoor Basics is valid for two years or continuous with yearly visits to GSK properties.
Outdoor Basics can be offered in person or virtually. This particular class is a virtual class which will be held April 1, 7:00 pm Eastern, via Zoom. You will be sent a zoom link as part of the automated response from Jotform when you complete this registration form.
Please note: This Outdoor Basics class is only for day outings which do not include fires. It is the first step in taking your girls outside and is a pre-requisite for the next class, Indoor Camping. If you want to sleep overnight at a camp or cook anything outside with your girls, Indoor Camping authorizes you to take troops camping overnight in winterized buildings. Indoor camping includes fire building with girls, fire safety, foil and stick cooking, safe use of charcoal, essential camp equipment, general safety precautions, and building cleanup. Look for an Indoor Camping class on April 19 on the council's Events List to find out more about Indoor Camping and to find links to register. Another session of that class will be offered during Spring Training Weekend - May 15-17.
