Camp Shantituck, Pines Unit, 9:00 am - 5:00 pm Eastern, Apr 25, 2026
  • This registration form is for a Outdoor Camping class, to be held at Camp Shantituck (Pines Unit) from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm Eastern time on Saturday, April 25.  Camp Shantituck is in northern Bullitt County, Kentucky, near the Brooks exit from I-65.

Outdoor Camping is an 8 hour class which authorizes GSK Volunteers to take girls camping in tents in developed campsites where approved water and bathroom facilities are available.  Learn the use of propane stoves, tent pitching and usage, tool craft, knots, care of aluminum pots, use and care of ironware, cooking by a variety of methods, meal planning and food preparation, and use of coolers for storage of perishable food items. Fee for the class (food and materials) is $10.

You need to have completed Outdoor Basics and Camping Indoors to take this class.  Look on the Events lists for when these trainings may be offered prior to this class.

Once you have completed Outdoor Camping, you keep your certification current by one of these methods:

    • Camping at least once a year at a GSK property, OR
    • Take Outdoor Camping again after five years have elapsed, OR
    • Take Outdoor Update

A meal consisting of a variety of foods is part of this class, and you will learn and practice several cooking techniques.  Questions below will ask about any special food needs you may have.

After you hit "submit" you will receive an automated response from Jotform.  The response will include a payment link.  Your registration is NOT complete until you have paid for this class.  This email will also contain suggestions for what to bring to camp and some links to some electronic copies of resources for this class; you will get print copies at the training if you want them.  You are certainly welcome to take a look at the resources and the videos that are among the linked materials.  You may also find the videos useful for helping prepare your girls for their first tent camping experience.

Questions about this class?  See the end of the form for whom to contact.

  • Format: (000) 000-0000.
  • FOOD:  The supper meal will be a "training" meal with a variety of food items prepared using several different cooking techniques.  The food is planned by the trainers.  Often there is more than one entree choice and more than one dessert.  Our usual menus accommodate vegetarians who also are comfortable eating eggs and dairy products.  With advance notice, we can often accommodate other food needs, but you may need to bring additional food to supplement what we will prepare.

Please indicate your food preferences below, and in the space provided, tell us of any food allergies or other special needs you may have.

  • Participants in this class normally receive hard copy of a number of print resources to use later as references. However, some people prefer to receive electronic copy only. A link to these electronic resources will be in your automated email. Please indicate your preferences below.

  • I understand I must have completed Outdoor Basics AND Indoor Camping before taking this class.

I understand that my registration is not complete until I have paid the council for this class, using the registration link I will get after I submit this registration.

I understand that I need to cancel my attendance by contacting my volunteer trainer (listed below) if I cannot attend.
