    Academic Enrichment Awards

The Graduate Student Organization (GSO) represents the academic interests of over 5,000 graduate students attending UH Mānoa, the flagship campus of the UH System. Starting in 1975 the Grants and Awards fund was created to aid graduate students with presenting original scholarly, scientific or literary works at academic or professional conferences or workshops.

  • The awarding of this grant is decided by vote of graduate peers on a semesterly basis. GSO offers graduate students up to $1000 for travel, up to $800 for accommodations, and up to $500 for conference registration. Applications open December 1st and are due January 5th for all conferences/events between Jan. 1, 2025 - Dec. 31, 2025.

Deadlines and GSO HoR meeting dates can be found at https://manoa.hawaii.edu/gso/ . Once the application has been reviewed by peer reviewers, you will receive an email notification with the review committee's decision and a reimbursement packet will be provided to you if awarded.

The GSO Academic Enrichment Awards are funded and run through the UH fiscal department and all policies of professional conduct apply. Failure to adhere to these policies (including but not limited to harassment of administrative staff) will result in forfeiture of any awarded monies and bar the applicant from applying to future cycles.
