Basenji Application

 We understand this can be a very exciting time for our potential basenji puppy buyers! However, we do not allow puppy selections until 5-6 weeks of age, this allows time for the puppy’s colors and personalities to properly develop. We WILL NOT send out any pictures prior to when the selection process begins- please do not ask. If you are getting the puppy as a gift for a holiday or other special occasion, please understand we WILL NOT send pictures out early so you can print/wrap them. We recommend using a showcase picture from our website of your desired color(s) or purchasing a stuffed animal or etc. Please do not ask - there are no exceptions to this policy.

After you receive notification of application approval that is the time to ask any and all questions you may have. We will set up a call/visit so you can address all questions prior to sending in your deposit. We will not place you on the deposit list until your deposit is received, which needs to be done after you have asked any and all questions you may have. Deposits are $500 and nonrefundable unless we do not produce ANY of your color options. If you pass on a pup and opt to wait for the next litter and there are none of your requested colors available, you will select a different color or forfeit your deposit. If you find a puppy elsewhere or otherwise change your mind you forfeit your deposit- no exceptions.

By submitting this application, you agree you have read our deposit policy and agree to it completely.

We completely understand the urge for potential puppy parents to want to come visit us. We do allow visitors to come and meet our basenji parents prior to breeding season (fall/winter) and AFTER puppy selections if they wish to come early and meet their pup (please note that if you wish to come visit your pup you will only be permitted one visit before take home day).

If you prefer to wait to make your pick in person, please understand you must arrive within 24 hours of us contacting you that it is your turn to make your selection. Otherwise, you will make your selection via photos and videos. If you wish to make your selection in person and cannot come within 24 hours, we will continue moving down the list until you arrive and you will only be able to choose from the available puppies at the time you arrive. If the remaining puppies are not any of your chosen color options then you will select a different color, opt to wait for another litter* (if this option is available) or forfeit your deposit. No Exceptions.

 

This is where we find out a little more about potential parents and new homes. Please remember in most cases there is no "right" or "wrong" answer. This is just a way to get to know you!

Transportation Fees:

The listed rates are for in house transportation (meaning we will transport the puppy to you ourselves and we guarantee all transports). 

To meet at the Jacksonville International Airport (Jacksonville, FL) or the Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport (Savannah, GA) is a $150 fee.

To meet at the Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport (Atlanta, GA) is a $300 fee.

Ground Transportation: To drive your puppy to you is a $1.50 per mile charge - if the roundtrip time is over 12 hours there is an addtional $125 fee for a hotel. Driving can be done with puppies/dogs of any size and is the ONLY option for older puppies (pups over 14-16 weeks of age).

Flight Nanny Services: dependent on available flights on approved airlines. The cost breakdown involves the ticket price + the pet fee + fee based on time taken. This service can cost anywhere from $800-$1200+. PLEASE NOTE - flight nanny services are only doable for younger puppies due to size restrictions (they will be flying under the seat in a carrier). As a rule a basenji over 14-16 weeks is not able to fly (can vary based on pup's actual size), your only option would be driving/ground transportation.

We also work with 3rd party courriers for drives and flight nanny services whose prices may vary from our own. We do not offer any guarantees on any 3rd party transporters. Any puppy/dog leaving with a 3rd party carrier must be PAID IN FULL prior to ever leaving our property. All 3rd party transporters must be approved by both the buyer and Harmony Hounds - we reserve the right to refuse a transporter if any issues arise that could pose any risk to the puppy's well-being.

We reserve the right to first pick from any litter and to hold puppies back to allow us time to evaluate that pup for breeding potential. Please understand that this means certain pups may not be shown until we have made our assesment. While it is unlikely, we do reserve the right to refuse any placement at any time, in which case we will refund your deposit.

If this application is approved, you'll be notified and allowed to ask any and all questions you may have. Please note that you need to have all questions addressed BEFORE sending in your deposit. By sending in your deposit and signing our deposit form you are commiting to purchasing one of our pups and understand that our deposit is nonfundable. The only way we refund a deposit is if we do not produce any of your color options or refuse a placement. We accept a limited number of deposits based on how many pups we anticipate for that year. We do our best to not overestimate this number, but please understand that we are dealing with living beings and nothing is guaranteed. Should you change your mind about getting one of our pups then you forfeit your deposit. If circumstances arise and you are unable to get your puppy this season we do allow customers to defer to a future season. Please note if our price increases then your deposit is put towards the total cost of the current season, not the season you placed the deposit. There is no option for customers to pay extra to get a premium/first pick - deposits are first come first served with limited spots for each color. We do not hold a spot without a deposit. Just because you get approved does not mean you have a guaranteed spot, only that you are eligible to reserve a spot. You are only placed on the wait list after we have accepted your deposit and you are placed in order of time and date.

Puppies will go to their new homes at 8 weeks and the balance must be paid in cash. If you are unable to pick up your puppy within 10 days of them turning 8 weeks old you are responsible for all boarding fees. Boarding fees are $10 per night or $50 per week. If you may require boarding please let us know in advance so we can check and see if we are able to accomodate your needs. Please understand we reserve the right to refuse boarding requests for prolonged periods of time. It is the buyers responsibility to make arrangements with us once they have been notified of their pups take home date. If something comes up and you are unable to make arangements for your puppy you must let us know at that time- we do allow customers to defer for ONE breeding season, after that you forfeit your deposit.

All puppies will come with their AKC registration paperwork (limited), our basenji puppy contract, vet inspection, health certificate, and up to date on all vaccinations and wormings.
