• Historic Virginia Key Beach Park Event Damage Guidelines

  • This is a Guideline for Event Organizers to know the relative pricing when a damage occurs during setup, during the event or during the breakdown period. The prices are a current estimate. Price may vary depending on the severity of the damage.

     

     

  • Pavilions and Historic Structures:

  •  

    Structures: Main Pavilion, Historic Dance Pavilion, Historic Corousel, Carousel Tent, Historic Concession Stand, Chickee Village, Orange and Green Pavilion, Wedding Gazebo Platform, Island Pavilion, Bath House, Train Station, Train Tracks, Train Tunnel, Park Office, North Restrooms.

    Stripped paint: Price will vary depending on the severity of the damage and the price of the paint required to cover.

    Price Ranges: 

    Small section: $200-$500

    Prep Table area (if applicable): $1,000 Entire Pavilion: $5,000+

    Entire Pavilion: $5,000+

    Signage damage: Price will vary depending on the cost of the sign to replace plus the labor.

    Price Ranges: $100-$300 per sign

    Concrete damage: Price will vary on the severity of the damage and the estimate that a contractor provides to repair the damage.

    Electrical box damage: Price will vary on the severity of the damage and the estimate that a contractor provides to repair the damage.

    Picnic table damage (paint, scratches, etc): Price will vary depending on the severity of the damage and the items required to repair or replace the table.

    Spigot or water damage: Price will vary on the severity of the damage and the estimate that a contractor provides to repair the damage.

  • Wooden Structures:

  • Structures include but not limited to: Tea House, Wedding Gazebo, Beachfront Village/ cobins (6), Brown Cobana, Coastal Pavilion, Front Gate House, Grassroots Ticket Booth.

    *Wooden Structures are not to be moved WITHOUT PERMISSION FROM THE PARK STAFF. If a wooden structure is moved without permission, there will be a $2,000 Penalty per structure for removing and returning the structure. The penalty does not include the potential damages or markings involved in the moving process.

     

  • Minor Damages:

    Includes staples, screws, nails and any other hardware.

    Rates:

    Between $300 and $1000 depending on the severity of damages

    *This penalty applies regardless of whether it is the park staff or event staff that removes the above items

    Major Damages:

    Includes broken boards, pillars and structural components:

    Rates:

    Boards: price of a replacement board plus labor costs $200-

    Pillars: Price of a replacement plus labor costs $500-

    Structural Components: An estimate by a contractor or specialist

  • Playground Structures/ Recreational Areas:

  • This includes both playgrounds as well as the 9 hole disc golf course (nets, pavers and posts

    *Any damage to the playgrounds will require an estimate from a playground company.

    Disc Golf: 

    Nets: $525

    Pavers: $20 each

    Posts: 4x4 posts and paint

    Post removal: $50.00

    Post Replacement: $100.00

    Stripped Paint: Price will vary depending on the severity of the damage and the price of the paint required to cover.

    Price Range: $15-$25

     

     

  • Park Office/Visitors Center Area:

  •  

    This includes the park office building, adjacent maintenance yard and the concrete platform the office

    *The maintenance yard is off limits to events.

    **Any damage to the park office and concrete platform will be subject to an estimate from a contractor or specialist.

  • Electrical/Water Service Areas:

  • This includes the pump station, sewer holes, wooden fenced in electrical breakers, electrical poles and in ground water/ electrical boxes, fire hydrants.

    *Any damage will require an estimate from electrical or water/sewer services

     

  • Gates/ Fencing:

  • This includes: 4x4 post and rope, picket fencing, maintenance yard fence, telephone pole fencing, Circuit breaker fencing, railings, front gate house bollards, barricades, cones, chain link fencing, The Park entrance gate, the chained entrances to the historic core, the North Party Area and trail to the Cove.

    Stripped paint: Price will vary depending on the severity of the damage and the price of the paint

    4x4 post and rope fencing:

    For events, the 4x4 and well as the green telephone posts that are used as fencing are NOT to be removed. The rope can be removed by the park staff UPON REQUEST.

    If rope is removed without permission, there will be a penalty fee of $2 per foot of rope removed.

    If a post is removed there will be a penalty ranging between $75 and $100 per post removed.

    Reinstalling existing post: $75

    Replacing existing post: $100

    *Replacement of posts depends on the damage done to the existing posts.

    *A $25 dollar fee applies to create 2 cycle mix gas in order to fuel the auger tool to install posts. An hourly labor cost also applies.

    Picket Fencing, Maintenance Yard and Circuit Breaker Fencing:

    Price Ranges: varies on contractor

    Screws, nails, other hardware: will range between $300 and $1000 depending on the severity of damages

    Board panels: price of a replacement board plus labor costs $200-

    Stripped paint/stain: Price will vary depending on the severity of the damage and the price of the paint required to cover.

    Chain link fencing:

    Damage includes left over signage, cut chain link Price Ranges: $200.00 +

    Signage: Any remaining event signage will be charged a fee of $25 per day until the sign is picked up

    Chain Link: Any cut chain link will be subject to gate replacement fees

  • Bollards, Barricades and Cones:

    For the existing bollards at the park, there will be a minimum penalty of $50 for any nicks, dents or

    If any barricades are dented, bent and rendered unusable, there will be a penalty of a fee for a new barricade. If rendered usable but still damaged, the penalty is $100. If barricades are taken by companies, the event will be subject to replace the barricade.

    If any cones are damaged, destroyed or stolen, the event will be subject to replace the cone.

    Park Interpretive Signage: 

    This includes the signage in the Nature Trails, Timeline Garden, 12 nature signage as well as the Historic Marker Signage.

    * Any damage to the signage will be subject to a minimum $1000 penalty to replace the existing signage.

    Park Safety Signage: 

    This includes the signage located along the shoreline, in the pavilion areas as well as the natural areas. (Ex. No Jet ski, No fishing, natural area under restoration, restrooms, Pavilion and Cabin reservations, etc)

    *Any damage to this type of signage will result in a $25 penalty for replacement.

     

    Underground Features:

    This includes, sewage pipes, access points and electrical wires.

    If there are any items being installed into the ground, i.e. (posts, stakes, grounding rods, supports, etc) events can go no deeper than 24 inches or two feet. All in ground material needs to be removed before the final setup day or there will be a fee of $150 per item per day that it is still in the ground.
