Jopuka Productons & Hyde Entertainment present
Chatroom by Enda Walsh
Originally Staged by Seb Smee for the 2023 Australian Premiere
CHATROOM is a dark comedy by award-winning Irish playwright, Enda Walsh.
Fast paced, moving and poignant, the play is an emotional rollercoaster of shifting power dynamics, sociopathic social experiments and psychological warfare.
Six teenagers meet online to discuss everything from Britney Spears to Willy Wonka to... suicide.
When the depressed Jim joins the room and talks about ending his life. William and Eva decide to see how far they can push the newcomer to his breaking point.
From this chilling premise comes a blackly comedic. compelling, and unexpectedly uplifting play that tackles the issues of teenage life head-on and with great understanding.

As we have less than 7 weeks from rehearsals to production week, lines are expected to be learnt ASAP. After a scene is blocked, all dialogue for that scene should be learnt before the next rehearsal.
This will be more of a challenge for the actors playing the role of 'Jim', as he has multiple large monlogues.
