Participation Parameters:

Reading Programs: These are passive programs where participants log their reading using a paper tracker or online source like Beanstack or Reader Zone. For this section of the report, include all participants in your summer reading program for both youth (18 and under) and adults (19 and up). Please note that even though 18 is considered “adult,” for library statistics, 18-year-olds are part of the youth category.
Library Programs: This section of the report tracks summer program attendance and is based on the Public Library Statistics report that each library submits each year. We are tracking total attendance at programs aimed at different age groups. So, if you have a storytime for toddlers, you would include the total attendance at that program, including parents and any siblings.
Outreach Programs: These are programs that take place during the summer away from the library. If you visited summer nutrition programs, daycares, schools, clinics, events, etc., to host a library event or hand out books during the summer months, we would like your best estimate of the number of children and teens you made contact with and delivered the message, "Read over the summer!" School visits to promote your upcoming summer reading program do not count for this category.

Youth Explorer Passes: The ICfL and Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation (IDPR) offered free State Parks "Youth Explorer" passes that your library could request from ICfL to use for prizes, outreach, or summer programming. Did your library take advantage of this offer?*

Scottish Rite Books: Each public library (or library system) received a shipment of paperback books provided by ICfL through a donation from the Scottish Rite Masons of Idaho. These books were meant to help you stretch your summer reading budget and provide children with books to take home and read over the summer. How did these books benefit your library and its young patrons? (Your comments are important and will be included on our annual report to the Scottish Rite to determine value.)*
