Thank you for your interest in partnering with your local library to help them apply for the Kindergarten Readiness Grant through the Idaho Commission for Libraries. This program seeks to prepare more children in your community for success in kindergarten and beyond. You can read more about the Idaho Commission for Libraries, the Kindergarten Readiness Grant program and requirements, and grant application instructions at https://libraries.idaho.gov/rtm/kinder-grant/.
A. Ensure that more Idaho families with pre-kindergarten children have public library cards to gain access to the tools and resources needed to help children succeed in school, especially for families with limited access to preschool programming or who are not regular library users.
B. Increase the amount of early learning activities done in the homes of pre-kindergarten children across the state.
C. Leverage resources to serve a wider range of children by increasing the number of successful public library, school, and community partnerships that improve third-grade reding proficiency by focusing on pre-kindergarten experiences.
Libraries, schools, and community organizations often share common goals, but work independently of each other in their efforts to meet those goals. The objective of Goal C is to strengthen collaborative efforts, leverage resources, and streamline services in order to reach more children and families. This grant provides an opportunity for you and your organization to more greatly impact community efforts to prepare children for school.
