Kristallnacht Commemoration: “Woman in Gold” – Sunday, November 3, 2-4:30 p.m. at the Franciscan Center, Lourdes University, 6832 Convent Blvd., Sylvania *For JFGT Campaign Donors*Join us for a viewing of the film "Woman in Gold," starring Helen Mirren and Ryan Reynolds, which will be preceded by a talk by University of Michigan art history professor Shelley Perlove, Ph.D., who will discuss efforts concerning the restitution of Nazi-looted artworks. The movie is based upon the true story of an elderly woman, Maria Altmann, who waged a nearly decade-long legal battle with the Austrian government in an effort to reclaim the famous Klimt painting “Portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer I” which featured her aunt; the work, considered to be a national treasure, had been stolen from Ms. Altmann’s family by the Nazis in 1941.
