Benefits
Why are intersection improvements needed?
Northeast Bend is growing quickly. Traffic has increased as more people move to the area and travel to homes, businesses, schools, medical centers and recreation areas. Studies have shown that traffic will continue to increase, reaching around 30% more than today by 2046.
These streets provide important connections, so this project has been made a priority to keep these routes moving safely as demand grows. Olney Avenue is a critical route over the river and provides access to St. Charles Hospital. Revere Avenue is a highly used direct connection to U.S. 97.
This project will also include water system upgrades at the four project intersections at the same time, to take advantage of construction and avoid additional disruptions later on. We will replace cast iron pipe from the 1940s, which can rupture unexpectedly and create a costly emergency. This work increases the reliability of the water system and supports Bend’s growth.
