The 3-Creeks site performs many functions and benefits people, fish, and wildlife in many ways:
- Its wetlands absorb and store water during heavy rains that would otherwise flow downstream and flood homes and businesses
- Its streams are a migration route for threatened and endangered species of salmon
- It contains rare Oregon white oak trees, which are habitat for many species
- It provides an area for environmental education
- Its wetlands are breeding grounds for native frogs and salamanders
Clackamas Water Environment Services is beginning a project to enhance natural resources and improve the floodplain storage and water quality at the 3-Creeks Natural Area.
