    We are so grateful for your interest in volunteering on Hog Island during the 2025 Hog Island Audubon Camp season! Thank you for taking a moment to fill out and sign this contract for our records. Please note that we will be following up with a background check for any volunteers that will be on the island when there are campers that are under the age of 18 (eg., Family and Teen Camps). We look forward to seeing you this summer in Maine!

  • ARRIVAL OPTIONS

    Car: I will arrive by private vehicle on the first day of the session between 10 A.M-11 A.M. I will leave my car in the grass parking lot at 12 Audubon Camp Rd. Bremen, Maine OR I will be dropped off at the Audubon dock. Boat shuttles to the island are 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. The first camper trip to Hog Island is at 2:00 P.M. 
    *Opening and Closing Work weeks begin Sunday at 1pm. Boat shuttle will be at 1pm from the dock.

    Bus: I will to travel to Damariscotta by Concord Coach Lines from Boston/Portland (circle one) and will be arriving at the Damariscotta bus stop (located outside of Waltz’s Pharmacy on Maine Street) at 3:00 P.M. I understand that the camp van will pick me up between 3:00 and 3:30 P.M.

    Country Coach Charters from Portland: I will be taking the Country Coach Charter from the airport/train station, arriving at the Audubon dock in Bremen between 2:00 and 4:00 P.M.

    Hotel / Inn pick up: I am requesting pick-up at the Newcastle Inn in Newcastle or Oak Gables in Damariscotta. I understand that the camp van will pick me up at my lodging on the first day of the session between 3:00 and 3:30 pm.

  • DEPARTURE OPTIONS

    Car: I will depart by private vehicle on the last day of the session, staying until 1 P.M. to help with turnover.

    Bus: I will depart by bus and leave on the 7 A.M. boat from Hog Island to take the camp van into Damariscotta at approximately 7:30 A.M. to meet the Concord Trailways bus at 9:30 A.M. If another camper/volunteer is taking you to the bus stop please check Car above.

    Country Coach Charter: I plan to depart Portland by plane/rail on (specify airline and flight #/train and time of departure). Country Coach Charter will pick me up at the camp the morning of the last day of camp; I will take the 7 A.M. ferry off Hog Island to meet the charter.

  • Friends of Hog Island Volunteer Release and Waiver of Liability Form

  • This Release and Waiver of Liability (the “release”) executed by {question3} {question4} (“Volunteer”), on the date indicated below, releases Friends of Hog Island, a nonprofit corporation organized and existing under the laws of the State of Maine, and National Audubon Society, a nonprofit corporation organized and existing under the laws of the State of New York (individually and collectively, the “Nonprofit”), and each of the Nonprofit’s directors, officers, employees, and agents.

    The Volunteer desires to provide volunteer services for Nonprofit and engage in activities related to serving as a volunteer. Volunteer understands that the scope of Volunteer’s relationship with Nonprofit is limited to a volunteer position and that no compensation is expected in return for services provided by Volunteer; that Nonprofit will not provide any benefits traditionally associated with employment to Volunteer; and that Volunteer is responsible for his/her own insurance coverage in the event of personal injury or illness as a result of Volunteer’s services to Nonprofit.

    Waiver and Release: I, the Volunteer, release and forever discharge and hold harmless Nonprofit and it or their successors and assigns from any and all liability, claims, and demands of whatever kind or nature, either in law or in equity, which arise or may hereafter arise from the services I provide to Nonprofit. I understand and acknowledge that this Release discharges Nonprofit from any liability or claim that I may have against Nonprofit with respect to bodily injury, personal injury, illness, death, or property damage that may result from the services I provide to Nonprofit or occurring while I am providing volunteer services.


    Insurance: I understand that Nonprofit does not assume any responsibility for or obligation to provide me with financial or other assistance, including but not limited to medical, health, or disability benefits or insurance. I expressly waive any such claim for compensation or liability on the part of Nonprofit beyond what may be offered freely by Nonprofit in the event of injury or medical expenses incurred by me.

    Medical Treatment: I hereby Release and forever discharge Nonprofit from any claim whatsoever which arises or may hereafter arise on account of any first-aid treatment or other medical services rendered in connection with an emergency during my tenure as a volunteer with Nonprofit.


    Assumption of Risk: I understand that the services I provide to Nonprofit may include activities that may be hazardous to me including, but not limited to work involving inherently dangerous activities. As a volunteer, I hereby expressly assume risk of injury or harm from these activities and Release Nonprofit from all liability.


    Photographic Release: I agree that photographs, images, video, or audio recordings of me, my likeness or voice made by Nonprofit in connection with my providing volunteer services to Nonprofit may be used in perpetuity in Nonprofits’ publications, for Nonprofits’ advertising, publicity, commercial or other business purposes, in any and all media.


    Other: As a volunteer, I expressly agree that this Release is intended to be as broad and inclusive as permitted by the laws of the State of Maine and that this Release shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of the State of Maine. I agree that in the event that any clause or provision of this Release is deemed invalid, the enforceability of the remaining provisions of this Release shall not be affected.


    By signing below, I express my understanding and intent to enter into this Release and Waiver of Liability willingly and voluntarily.
