• Alamo City Tres Dias Team Commitment Form

  • Congratulations!

    You have been selected by the Rector to serve on an Alamo City Tres Dias weekend. This form will provide you information about what it means to serve as a team member on a weekend and also ask you to affirm your commitment to the Tres Dias method, Essentials and weekend leadership.

    Making a Difference

    At the start of each Tres Dias we ask Candidates to show the Spirit of Idealism, Cooperation and Love to hopefully receive the most from their weekend. As a Team Member, you too will be asked to demonstrate these key elements as you help to make the Weekend a success for God’s Glory.

    Idealism - Just having your name on the roster doesn't mean you are doing your part. As a Team member, you want to actively participate in planning and serve with a sense of hope trusting that God can use your willingness to make a difference in the Kingdom. With the spirit of Idealism you will do what counts.

    Cooperation - As the body of Christ you are part of an important team. Tres Dias is not just about one person or the talent of one to shine above the rest. Consider how you can contribute to the collective goal of the Weekend and serve for the Lord. This requires Investment in the team by making a commitment to attend meetings, participating in discussions, working through challenges, and striving for meaningful results. The spirit of cooperation needs effort from all.

    Love - As Pescadores we are in ministry serving both Candidates and fellow Team. We want to love one another, show compassion, use kindness in word and deed, and remember the Golden Rule (Matt. 7:12). We will show God’s Love as we serve as Christ’s Hands in action in whatever is needed.

  • Tres Dias Statement of Beliefs

  • The follwing are the nine core belief statements of Tres Dias.  Please read these carefully and consider them as in order to serve on a Tres Dias weekend, you must be in a agreement with these beliefs.

    1. We believe and profess our faith in one Triune God – The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit.
      (Matthew 28:19 KJV)

    2. We believe and profess that Jesus Christ is the only Savior and is God in the flesh.
      (John 1 1:14, 3:16 & Hebrews 2:17 KJV)

    3. We believe and profess that The Holy Spirit is God and is the Lord and Giver of Life who continues to work today in believers to sanctify, edify, and improve the whole Christian Church on earth for His purpose.
      (Job 33:4; Romans 8:11; Acts 1:8; John 14:16 KJV)

    4. We believe and profess that the Holy Scriptures are the inspired and completely true Word of God.
      (2 Timothy 3:16---17 KJV)

    5. We believe and profess that all have sinned and come short of the glory of God: that forgiveness of sins is received through confession and repentance…and that our sins are washed away through the blood of Jesus Christ.
      (Acts 2:38; 1John 1:9; Romans 3:23 KJV)

    6. We believe and profess that salvation is a gift of God’s grace received through personal faith in Jesus Christ.
      (Ephesians 2:8 KJV)

    7. We believe and profess that the Body of Christ is to make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God.
      (Ephesians 4:3, 13 KJV)

    8. We believe and profess that God’s unconditional love, as made manifest to us through Jesus Christ, is the primary witness by which people are renewed, edified and changed.
      (1Corinthians 13:8 KJV)

    9. We believe and profess that God has called us to live holy lives that will bring glory to His name.
      (Colossians 3:1-25 KJV)

    Note: For purposes of standards and principles, Tres Dias ascribes to those stated in the “Authorized King James Version” of the Bible of 1611 (KJV).

  • Team Commitment Statements

  • The leadership of Alamo City Tres Dias understands that emergenices or other situations may arise on the weekend that would require a team member to leave the camp.  These situations will be handled on a case by case basis by the Leadership team on the weekend.

    It is the policy of Alamo City Tres Dias, and Tres Dias International, that once someone leaves the weekend, they will not be permitted to return to the weekend to continue serving on the team in any capacity.

  • Cloistered Weekend

  • The following section deals with the issue of Cloister on the weekend. Tres Dias International has published a policy position on different issues around cloister on the weekend that we feel is very important for you as a team member to be aware of.

    You participation in the weekend is not only a gift to the candidates but is also a gift to yourself, where you get to disconnect from the world and focus on Jesus for three days as you serve on the team.  Don't miss this opportunity to experience why God has called you to serve on this weekend, disconnect, let go and give yourself to the weekend in the same way that we ask the candidates to do as they come to the weekend.

    You can find the full policy document from TDI below.

    REVIEW OF CLOISTER AS IT APPLIES TO THE TRES DIAS WEEKEND

    ESSENTIALS 3.2.10: “That the team and Candidates live in a cloistered environment for the entire weekend.”

    TRES DIAS GLOSSARY OF TERMS: “Cloistered Environment: An essential feature of each weekend is that it be a time of focus and concentration on the Lord’s teachings for both candidates and the team members. A cloister (from the Latin, claustrum, meaning an “enclosed space”) was that part of the monastery that the general public could not enter. As far as physical facilities permit, weekends are held in a cloistered (enclosed) space where team and candidates are insulated from the pressures of everyday life and distractions of the outside world. The rollo room should be completely cloistered, with the wearing of watches and use of telephones, PDAs and other electronic devices that allow intrusion from the outside world strongly discouraged.”

    As part of serving on the weekend we ask that you read over the following Cloistered policy recommendations by Tres Dias International and adopted by Alamo City Tres Dias.

    • All team members and candidates shall remain at the facility for the entire weekend and no one, including Spiritual Directors, shall be given permission to leave and return. Barring emergencies, the only exception would be:
      • The Gopher Cha who is required to obtain supplies, etc., as part of their role on the weekend.
      • The Head Spiritual Director (or a Spiritual Director) and the Rover to meet with the men / ladies during Serenade Practice to provide a report of the weekend in preparation for Serenade.
      • Obviously some exceptions are reasonable when related to the bonafide medical needs of a candidate/pilgrim or a team member. But they must truly be validated emergency exceptions.
    • No one should be permitted to join the weekend after the chapel visit on Thursday evening.
    • Radios and TV’s shall be prohibited on the weekend. (Finding out the score of an NFL playoff game on a smart phone is bad enough, but it’s not the same as sitting in front of a TV watching the game!)
    • We must honor the candidates’ “Right to self-determination” as per the Essentials 3.2.22. The candidates are adults and therefore shall not be manipulated, coerced or in any other way forced to comply with our directives against their will. (Obviously if a candidate is causing a distraction to others or is in any way impacting the cloister and/or general experience of other candidates, they can and should be asked to leave the weekend if no other options are available).

    Read the section on "CLOISTER AS IT PERTAINS TO THE USE OF ELECTRONIC DEVICES ON A WEEKEND" in the TDI policy document as it is very important that as a team member, you try and adhere to these "Best Practicies" on the weekend. These are for the benefit of everyone since if someone sees you doing something, they may think it is okay for them to do that as well.

  • Qualifications for Community Leadership

  • The following section deals with the issue of Qualifications for Community Leadership as per the Alamo City Tres Dias and Tres Dias International bylaws. This includes, but is not limited to, all team members, elected and other local Secretariat officers, and members of standing and special committees of the local Secretariat.

    Section 2.2. Qualifications for Community Leadership

    Any person serving in a Community Leadership position must be living a life that is not in a state of rebellion against God. A state of rebellion against God can best be described as an unrepentant, open and active participation in or advocacy of activities contrary to the commands (for example, The Ten Commandments) and guidelines in Scripture* for holy living and Christian leadership. Some examples (although not limited to these areas) are:

    • dependence upon alcohol or illegal drugs;
    • involvement in illegal activities whereby such involvement knowingly violates
    • federal, state or local laws, statutes or ordinances;
    • involvement in lustful, immoral or perverted activities such as, but not limited to, pornography and/or any sexual relationship outside of a lawful marriage between a man and a woman;
    • involvement in the occult or Satanic worship;
    • openly professed allegiance to any non-Christian religion or organization which denies the deity of Jesus Christ

    See the Tres Dias International Policy document - Scriptural Basis to the Qualifications for Community Leadership - for more detailed information around these requirements and their scriptual basis.
