2018 Beacon Awards
The Miami-Dade Beacon Council has updated the Beacon Award categories to better align with the One Community One Goal focus categories.The following seven Beacon Award categories represent the key themes that drive economic development excellence.

The Jay Malina Award for Leadership
The Jay Malina Award is presented to a local executive who is a leader in their industry and has made an enduring impact in Miami-Dade County through professional success and civic participation. The winner of the 2018 Jay Malina Award is Adolfo Henriquez
The additional six categories available for entrants are as follows:
Business Climate & Policy Advancing policy solutions that facilitate economic development opportunities by reducing barriers to business growth.
Economic Development Marketing Promoting Miami-Dade County as a world class business destination to attract increased investments and jobs.
Education & Workforce Development Unique strategies that prepare students and workforce for success in the new economy.
Entrepreneurship & Innovation Accelerating and strengthening the entrepreneurial ecosystem in support of scalable businesses.
Physical Infrastructure Enhancing the physical assets of Miami-Dade County to support long term business growth
Targeted Industries Expanding opportunities within of one or more of our target industries creating sustained new job creation prospects.
