Application requirements are as follows:
- Application materials must be submitted by the DEADLINE of Wednesday, December 31, 2025, 11:59 PM by submission of this online application (NO EXCEPTIONS)
- Applicants must be first- or second-generation Jamaican-American female high school seniors, residents of Florida, attending a Florida high school, and planning to enroll in college in the fall.
- Applicants must have a 3.0 cumulative GPA as evidenced on a transcript from their school counseling department.
- Applicants must compose an essay (minimum 800 – maximum 1000 words). Prompt: Reflect on the influence of a Jamaican woman (e.g., mother, grandmother, mentor) and how her strength inspires you.
- Each applicant must provide proof of commitment as a volunteer in community projects. (At least 40 hours minimum)
- Two letters of recommendation are to be included. One must be from a teacher, school counselor/director, or administrator. Letters must be submitted on the organization's letterhead and include contact information for the person providing the recommendation.
- All application materials must include the applicant’s contact information (name/date of birth/address/telephone/email address)
- A resume
NOTE: TO ACCEPT THE AWARD Scholarship recipient is expected to be in attendance at the Jamaican Women of Florida’s Annual Women Empowerment Conference on March 28, 2026
