Guidelines
BPMPA expects all of our parents/guardians and students to behave in a professional and courteous manner. We are committed to making yourself and your child’s dance experiences a positive one and therefore we ask that all students, parents & guardians conduct themselves in an appropriate and respectful manner toward Staff, other students and patrons. Any negative or inappropriate behaviour could jeopardise your child’s position at BPMPA.
- If you have an illness or injury you must tell your teacher BEFORE you commence class.
- Food or Drink must not be taken into any studio at any time with the exception of bottled water.
- Although the studio is cleaned regularly, students are encouraged to take pride in their dance centre and assist in maintaining a high level of cleanliness and tidiness at all times. Please ensure that all Food & Drink is consumed downstairs near the Disney room, or in the tiled area upstairs opposite the port racks only. (No food/drink is permitted in the studios at any time, with the exception of resealable water bottles). Rubbish must be placed in the bins provided.
- No running ever in the corridors or stairs.
- No tap shoes to be worn on the stairs or concrete/cement walkways.
- Appropriate dance attire to be worn in each class. E.g. Ballet; Girls Hair must be in a bun, leotards and tights must be worn as instructed.
- Mobile Phones – If students bring a mobile phone to the studio and choose not to leave it in the change room for security reasons, they will be required to place it in a designated basket provided in each studio. While class is in progress, all mobile phones should be turned off or on silent.
- All children 9 years & under must be collected from the screen door. No child under this age will be allowed to exit the studio without a parent or guardian present.
- We also ask that all other students wait inside the studio until their parent/guardian has arrived at the screen door as we can only offer supervision whilst they are inside the studio. Students are asked not to wait outside of the studio to be collected by their parent or guardian. This includes the studio car park. Our staff cannot properly supervise students waiting outside of the dance centre and therefore we cannot sufficiently ensure their safety.
- If you are running late for your child’s pickup, please notify our office prior to the end of the class so that we can arrange suitable supervision for your child until you arrive.
- To ensure that all students get the most out of their time in class and are not distracted, parents are not permitted to view classes.
- We understand that you may have questions from time to time regarding your child’s class, their progress or other issues. To ensure that teachers are not delayed between classes, we encourage you to make an appointment with Miss Kate to discuss these. Parents are not allowed to talk to teachers during class changeover as this impacts on the following students class time. Any comments or discussions parents would like to have must be made by appointment at reception. Any official complaints must be made in writing and will be handled by the Director.
- The director of the school will place your child in the class, which they deem appropriate to their current level of expertise. It is in ours and the students best interest we do this and any decision will have been made on a professional appraisal of your child’s current level of ability.
We want our relationship to last for many years. To this end we will always try and do what we think is appropriate and conducive to the student having fun AND improving their skill levels.
- If at any time you feel we fall below your expectations you must make an appointment with the Director and let us know. We need your feedback so we can continue to carry on the amazing standard with which we started at BPMPA. We are committed to continual improvement in all areas of the Dance Studio. As we are only able to address issues that have been brought to our attention, we welcome your feedback (positive or negative). As part of our commitment, we will endeavour to work towards a positive outcome for all parties in the event of any issues.
- We aim to make BPMPA not only an institute of excellence in the performing arts, but a safe haven, where children can express their artistic feelings and emotions, without the fear of ridicule or suppression. Bullying or talent bashing is not allowed in any form. Any student who embarks on this kind of behaviour will be asked to leave immediately.
- Prejudice of any kind in any form is not allowed and actively discouraged, as artists, we leave our minds open to all aspects of life and explore the beauty and uniqueness of the individual.
