This survey is to register your interest in becoming a Saturday Referee. Please note it does not guarantee you a place in the course.
This Summer 2023-24 will be the biggest junior domestic competition that the Keilor Basketball Association (KBA) has ever seen, with the KBA experiencing a significant increase in the number of teams entered.
More teams = more referees needed
Are you:
- available to referee Saturdays
- comfortable communicating with adults
- confident and able to think on your feet
- looking to improve your fitness
- aged 15+
Do you:
- have a solid understanding of the games and rules of basketball
- want to give back to the game you love
- want to get paid to exercise
- want to be part of the best referee branch in Melbourne's North West
The cost of the course is $55 (GST inclusive) which includes all training material, a whistle/breakaway lanyard and a green shirt.
The theory sessions are compulsory, and there will be no make-up sessions. We understand that some applicants may have prior commitments, but it is very difficult to coordinate catch-up sessions and skill acquisition without the correct training. Although in the eyes oif the ATO refereeing is a hobby, we treat refereeing as a job, and we do not accept rep training or domestic training as a reasonable reason to miss the theory sessions.
A screening process may be organised before the course starts to determine suitability.
