  • KDA NATIONAL DANCE DAY GIVEAWAY APPLICATION FORM

  • Kern Dance Alliance National Dance Day Giveaway Awards may be used for dance/movement-based projects including, but not limited to, the following examples:

    • Movement-based projects (performances, classes, choreography, workshops, collaborations)
    • Travel to workshops/conventions/competitions
    • Professional development opportunities (trainings, workshops, seminars)
    • Education initiatives (classroom dance/movement classes, Prop 28 implementation, teacher trainings and credentialing)
    • Healthcare (Dance/Movement Therapy, healthy living campaigns)
  • General Rules + Judging Criteria:

    1. It is recommended that all applications be submitted from a desk or laptop, not a phone, to avoid upload errors.  All video submissions must be hosted on a web-based platform such as YouTube or Vimeo. 

    2. Applicants must adhere to all competition rules and deadlines.

    3. Any form of plagiarism or inappropriate content will result in disqualification.

    4. By participating, contestants grant the organizers permission to use their videos for promotional purposes.

    5. Applications are vetted based upon a rubric outlined in the narrative on a scale of 1 - 6. Rubric outlined below. 

    7. Applications will be judged by the KDA Board of Directors.  Any Director experiencing a conflict of interest will abstain from voting on an application.

    6. The top 10 highest ranked applications will receive a $1,000 grant award.

    8. Winners have up to one year to collect their funds.

    9. Award money may be used outside of Kern County.

    10. All decisions are final.

    Kern Dance Alliance Grant Award Obligations:

    If awarded, you will receive a contract with your grant award notification. The contractual agreement must be signed and returned to Kern Dance Alliance.

    The grant recipient will then receive 100% of the awarded sum.  

    A final report will be required of all grantess that lists the following to be submitted no later than September 20, 2025 that includes:

    1. A brief 1-page summary of the project’s impact on you and/or the community.
    2. Submission of copies of all printed materials and publicity. Any publication and/or printed materials for funded events must carry the following quote: “The “name of your event” is supported by a grant from the Kern Dance Alliance.” (if applicable)

    Written Response - Please answer the questions below via word processing software and save your responses as a .pdf. You will upload your responses via the button below.  Each answer is to be no longer than 250 words. 

    Video Response - Please answer the questions below by filming your responses. Each response will be no longer than 2 minutes and the entirety of the film will be no longer than 16 minutes. Films are to be hosted on a web-based platform like YouTube or Vimeo and the url is to be listed via the fields below. You are encouraged to be creative with your delivery.  Please ensure sound quality is optimal. 

    2. Work Samples - It is optional to provide up to 2 media work samples showcasing you, your organization, or you project. Samples can include any type of media, such as flyers, advertisements, photographs, videos, or other promotional materials. These samples will help us to better understand and highlight the impact of your project and the use of the funds.

    Video Upload Requirements: It is optional to provide a video showcasing your work. The video work sample is to be included in your 2 work sample uploads.  

    - Duration: The video must be 1.5 minutes or less.

    - Content: The video should feature the person or people who are applying for the funding to demonstrate dance/movement and/or movement based practices. 

    - Costumes: Costumes are not required.

    - Audio Quality: Ensure the sound is clear and of good quality.

    - Originality: The performance must be original and created specifically for this competition.

    - Submission: Films are to be hosted on a web-based platform like YouTube or Vimeo and the url is to be listed via the fields below.
