The KDA student intern is a volunteer position and a resume-booster! Student interns have the opportunity to earn points towards induction into the KDA National Honors Society for Dance Arts Secondary Chapter, build high school or college service hours, receive letters of recommendation, and gain insight into arts administration.

Position
Under the supervision of the KDA President, this, approximately 10-20 hours a month, hands-on position will be responsible for assisting across multiple program areas including event coordination, development, social media, communications, and administration.
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

General administrative support: file, organize, data entry, manage the KDA Dance Directory, and social media services

Handling donor and member interactions, follow up, and thanking process

Supporting event coordination for programming and development events

Assisting in volunteer management and coordination

Writing blogs, website content, and helping coordinate the newsletter
- Executing a passion project
Preferred Qualifications:

Passion for dance and the arts in Kern County
- Must be a current KDA Member

Previous experience in event planning, leadership, and communications preferred with a track record of excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills

Familiarity working with non-profit environments, and willingness to be used where most needed

Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills

Proficiency using Mac systems, Windows systems, Microsoft Office, Email, and Social Media
- Positive attitude, willingness to learn, and a team-player
Compensation:
Internships are unpaid but are available to be used for course credit from the individual’s high school, college or university. KDA Interns will receive a letter of recommendation upon request and the opportunity to participate in KDA events at a discount price. Additionally, KDA internships offer a great deal of hands-on experience. Interns will gain and/or improve upon their:
