We are looking for leading women who want to take an active role in strategic decision-making processes in the fields of security, defence, crisis management and conflict resolution through Turkey's first civilian crisis management game, which we prepared as part of the Women in Command Project we started as Kizbasina! By being involved in the Women in Command project which is a first in Turkey,

For over 600 years, Vecrania has been part of the Astraidorian Empire. About a hundred years ago, the Astraidorian Empire started to dissolve, breaking down into smaller independent states based on ethnicity and religion. Therefore, Vecrania has been an independent republic for the last 70 years. Recently, Astraidor has been regaining its power and increasing its status as an international powerhouse. It is internationally accepted that Astraidor is mainly motivated by its imperial past. 

A recent crisis in Vecrania began with protests in the capital city of Cadena against the Vecrania’s President’s decision to reject a deal for a greater economic integration with the Astraidor. After a violent crackdown by state security forces unintentionally drew an even greater number of ethnic Astraidor protesters were unintentionally drawn, escalating the conflict. 

Protests and clashes with the state security forces continued especially in the Oplin region where the population is predominantly ethnic Astraidor. Regular (Official Army) troops of Astraidor without official uniforms took control of Vecrania’s Oplin region. Using their influence in order to legitimately annex the island Oplin local government called for a referendum to join the Astraidor Federation. Astraidor Prime Minister cited the need to protect the rights of Astraidor citizens and Astraidor speakers in Oplin and southeast Vecrania. The conflict in Oplin caused a chain effect and heightened the conflict in other ethnically Astraidorian regions of Vecrania. 

 

You are to act in the name of the Vecranian Government. You have three choices: 

 

1. Influence the People : using the government media agencies, create a rhetoric on the basis that Astrador is in fact an occupying power, lacking legitimacy. 
2. Take Kinetic Military Action: deploy troops to the regions where Astradorian troops are present to engage in conflict and show to your people as well as the world that you are able to defeat Astraidor.  
3. Invest in Intelligence : concentrate on gathering information. Use ISR various ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance) techniques to strengthen your hand on processing, provision of accurate, relevant, timely information and intelligence to support your decision making process.
