Repair Cafe at Newton Public Library

The KPU Sustainability Club has partnered with Surrey BC Repair Cafe and the Surrey Libraries - Newton Branch to help make our communities a thriving region where nothing is wasted and resources are valued. Surrey BC Repair Café at Newton Public Library
Repair Café is free of charge on a voluntary basis by the participants. Guests may perform the repairs themselves, if possible, and repair “fixers” will help as needed. Volunteer fixers at Repair Café are unpaid and do not claim professional training. The organizers of the Repair Café, (the fixers, guests, collectively, “the participants”) are not liable for any loss that may result from advice or instructions concerning repairs; not liable for the damage to items being repaired; not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for any other kind of loss resulting from work performed in the Repair Café or the operation of the repaired item. A voluntary donation is greatly appreciated. Purchase of replacement parts is the responsibility of the item’s owner. Guests offering broken items for repair do so at their own risk. Repair fixers assisting in repairs offer no guarantee for the repairs carried out with their help and are not liable if repaired items do not work properly at home. Repair fixers are entitled to refuse to repair certain objects. Repair fixers are not obliged to reassemble disassembled items. Guests are solely responsible for the tidy removal of broken objects that could not be repaired. Repairs may be limited to one item per guest. The guest may be asked to join the back of the line if there is a second item for repair. Photos and videos may be taken during the event as part of event documentation and promotions activities.
