About Keep Toledo/Lucas County Beautiful & This Program
Keep Toledo/Lucas County Beautiful is dedicated to creating a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable community through environmental education, waste reduction, and beautification efforts. Keep Toledo/Lucas County Beautiful, in partnership with Keep America Beautiful and its RETREET® program, is proud to offer free replacement trees to residents, small businesses, places of worship, and community organizations in Point Place who lost trees during the 2023 tornadoes.
Trees are vital to rebuilding a healthier, more resilient community. They provide shade, improve air and water quality, reduce stormwater runoff, stabilize soil, and strengthen the natural defenses of neighborhoods like Point Place—especially important in this lakeside community where nutrient runoff impacts Lake Erie.
Through this initiative, we aim to restore the tree canopy that once shaded and protected Point Place. By planting native trees, we will help reduce erosion, mitigate flooding, and promote long-term environmental and community resilience.
If your property in Point Place lost trees due to the tornadoes, we invite you to complete the request form below. Trees will be provided and planted at no cost to you, and we will offer guidance on how to care for them to ensure they thrive for years to come.
If your property sustained damage and you would like a tree planted at your home, please submit a request using the form below.
What to know about this program:
- The native trees we plant in your yard will be 6 to 9 feet tall, depending on the species.
- In the weeks leading up to planting, you will be contacted to schedule a visit with one of our program representatives to determine the best planting locations on your property.
- OHIO811 will mark the utilities at your home and a team of volunteers will plant the tree for you.
- Care instructions will be provided. We ask that you water and care for the tree we plant for long-term success.
Please use the infographic at the bottom of this page to make sure that you have enough room on your property for at least one large tree before submitting a request.
