    Student Scholarship Application 2025/2026

    This scholarship may be used to cover “Tuition and Beyond” needs for attending Northwestern Michigan College, other higher education opportunities, apprenticeships, trainings, or entering as a new employee into the skilled trades. Eligible expenses include (but are not limited to) tuition, fees, books, equipment, housing, transportation, childcare, and groceries.

    Applications are reviewed by the Education/Scholarship Committee of the Northwest Michigan Skilled Trades Foundation. To be considered, all applicants must complete the first four (4) criteria and are strongly encouraged to consider submitting the letter noted in criteria #6. $10,000 Available for the 2025/2026 School Year Scholarships are available multiple years for each applicant.

    1. Applicant's chosen field of study must relate to the Skilled Trades Industry, to include construction trades and supporting industries; landscaping, mortgage lending, architectural design, kitchen design, accounting, energy, environmental, interior design, real estate and utilities. Also includes Automotive and other Skilled Trades opportunites.

    2. Must be a Resident of one of the Five (5) Counties: Antrim, Benzie, Grand Traverse, Leelanau, Kalkaska County, Wexford, Missaukkee, and Manistee.

    3. Minimum (Cumulative) Grade Point Average must be at least 2.5 on a 4-Point Scale. (Must Provide Copy of Current Transcript/Grade Report/Certificate of Completion)

    4. Must attend Northwestern Michigan College or an NMC Program During 2025/2026 Academic Year

    5. Must Demonstrate Community Involvement, Leadership and/or Service. 6. Applicants are encouraged to submit a letter of reference/recommendation as a supplement to your application - preferably written by an active member of the Home Builders Association of Northwest Michigan.
