Most clients want to know, “Roughly what will this cost?” before they decide whether to move forward.
These examples are not quotes, but they show what people in common situations typically pay for our Core 1040 service so you can see whether our pricing feels in the right ballpark for you.
Example 1 – Straightforward W-2 employee
- Single, no dependents
- W-2 income from one employer, one state
- Takes the standard deduction
- No business, rental, or K-1 income
- Typical Core fee: around $325–$375
Example 2 – Family return with common credits
- Married filing jointly or head of household
- W-2 income, with kids and common credits (child tax credit, daycare, etc.)
- May own a home and itemize deductions
- No business, rental, or K-1 income
- Typical Core fee: around $450–$600
Example 3 – W-2 plus some extra pieces
Similar to Example 2, but with additional items such as:
- Stock sales or Restricted Stock Unites (RSUs)
- HSA, 1099-INT/1099-DIV, or other investment income
- Simple multi-state situation
- Still no business or rental activity
- Typical Core fee: around $575–$725
Example 4 – Self-employed or landlord
- One small business (freelance/contract work, Schedule C) or a rental property
- Income and expenses reasonably organized (basic bookkeeping or clear records)
- May also have dependents, credits, and investment income
- Typical Core fee: around $625–$975
Example 5 – More complex situations
- Multiple businesses or rentals, or K-1s from an S corporation or partnership
- Multi-state income, more active trading/investments, or IRS/state tax notices
- May also need help catching up on prior-year returns
- Typical Core fee: often $1,050+
