Adoption Process

If you application is successful, we will make contact to arrange a home check. It is important that all family members are present, so we will work with you to find a time that suits everyone.

The home check is a simple visit to ensure your home is safe and secure for a cat. This includes looking at things like fly screens, doggy doors, indoor plants, and any potential hiding spots where a cat could get stuck, lost or injured.

Once the home check is successfully completed, we will organise a meet and greet with your chosen cat. If all goes well, you will be ready to welcome a new member into your family!

Adoption Fee

The full adoption fee must be paid into the Mayfield Community Cats account prior to the 2-week trial commencing. Should the cat be returned during that time, a $100 non-refundable deposit will be retained.

Pet owners that adopt a rescue animal from a recognised rehome organisation are eligble for free lifetime registration if the animal is desexed. All cats and kittens are desexed prior to being adopted.

I have discussed adopting a cat/kitten with my family and we are all excited to welcome a new cat/kitten into our family.I'm happy to have a home check before the adoption is finalised to make sure my home is the right match for both the cat and my family.I understand that I am adopting this cat with the intention of providing it a forever home. However, for whatever reason, if I need to rehome my cat I will contact Mayfield Community Cats first.I understand that all cats adopted are INDOOR only cats.Should the cat become unwell or sustain an injury, I will ensure that I seek adequate veterinary advice and assistance.I understand that as part of my adoption, I will provide the best care for the cat and will provide a long-term loving forever home.
