Independent Rebuild Volunteer Waiver and Release of Liability

Heart on Main Street | Asheville, NC | August 12–14, 2025

Thank you for volunteering with Heart on Main Street's Independent Rebuild project. To ensure the safety of all participants, and to protect our organization and partners, we require all volunteers to review and sign this waiver before participating.

Please read carefully. By signing, you acknowledge and agree to the following:

1. Assumption of Risk

I understand that volunteering in construction, repair, and retail display projects involves inherent risks, including but not limited to physical injury, falls, lifting injuries, equipment-related accidents, or exposure to environmental hazards. I voluntarily assume all risks associated with my participation.

2. Release and Waiver of Liability

I hereby release, waive, discharge, and hold harmless Heart on Main Street, its officers, directors, employees, volunteers, partners (including any participating retailers), and agents from any and all liability, claims, demands, or causes of action that may arise from injury, illness, loss, or damage resulting from my participation, whether caused by negligence or otherwise.

3. Medical Treatment

I authorize Heart on Main Street to provide, seek, and obtain medical treatment in case of injury or emergency during my participation. I agree to be responsible for any costs incurred.

4. Insurance

I understand that Heart on Main Street does not carry or maintain health, medical, or disability insurance coverage for volunteers. I am responsible for my own insurance coverage, if any.

5. Photo and Media Release

I grant permission to Heart on Main Street to take photographs, videos, or recordings of me during the project and to use them for promotional, fundraising, or educational purposes without compensation.

6. Safety and Conduct

I agree to comply with all safety instructions, rules, and procedures established by Heart on Main Street and its project partners. I understand that failure to follow safety guidelines may result in removal from the project site.

7. Communicable Diseases Acknowledgment

I acknowledge the contagious nature of COVID-19 and other communicable diseases. I voluntarily assume the risk of exposure or infection and understand that Heart on Main Street cannot guarantee that I will not become infected during my participation.
