The Motherload is a creative documentary performance exploring the beauty, grotesque and poetic in the madness and mundane of motherhood. Developed over several years in collaboration with mothers across Tasmania, the Motherload Collective present an interactive live gameshow: two teams compete for the crown of Ultimate Queen Mumma in a series of bizarre, boisterous and hilarious tasks torn from the very real experiences of motherhood throughout its stages, while the Collective’s accumulated multimedia research materials offset this riotous battle with poignancy, relief, and chaos.
Each team will be captained by one of our core artists - Melissa King, Bryony Geeves and Carrie McClean. And we are looking for 2 mummas to join each team for each performance.
We need 20 mums for both our Launceston and Hobart seasons.
(2 teams x 2 mums x 5 performances x 2 cities = 40 mums... is my maths right?)
Junction Festival, Launceston 2-4 September
(5 performances - 2 matinees & 3 evening + 1 Dress Rehearsal)
Peacock Theatre, Hobart 30 September - 2 October
(5 performances - 2 matinees & 3 evening + 1 Dress Rehearsal)
All volunteers joining us for the performances will be fully briefed, well cared for and pampered. We want 'performing' with us to be SO MUCH FUN (even if a little outside your comfort zone).
The time committent is just the duration of the performance (approx 60 minutes) plus about half an hour for a briefing. You don't need to learn anything - your a mum, you already know everything you could possibly need!!
We would like to offer our volunteer 'performers' a ticket for the show - either for someone to come and watch you or for you to come and watch the show when you are not in it.
So....if you are still keen please fill in the form and we will be in touch!!
big love
Julie
