  • Delegate Expectations

Participating in the Miss Southeastern Virginia & Miss Hampton Roads Scholarship Competition is an exciting opportunity for personal growth, leadership, and scholarship. To ensure a fair, organized, and rewarding experience for everyone, all delegates are expected to adhere to the following standards:

    Punctuality & Attendance

    • Mandatory Events: Attend all scheduled workshops, orientation meetings, rehearsals, and official pre-pageant events unless prior approval is granted by the directors.
    • Arrival Time: Arrive on time, fully prepared, and in the designated attire for all competition events, interviews, and rehearsals.

    Deadlines & Documentation

    • Paperwork Submission: Submit all required application materials, contracts, resumes, Community Service Initiative (CSI) essays, and talent media by the specified deadlines.
    • Accuracy: Ensure all submitted information is accurate, truthful, and properly formatted, as elements like your talent description and CSI may be used directly for the program book.

    Fundraising Requirements

SPOTfund Campaign: Actively participate in the mandatory fundraising for the Miss America Opportunity via the SPOTfund platform, meeting the minimum required donation threshold before the competition date.

    Sportsmanship & Conduct

    • Professionalism: Treat fellow delegates, directors, judges, volunteers, and production staff with the utmost respect, kindness, and professionalism at all times.
    • Social Media Presence: Maintain a positive, appropriate, and encouraging digital presence on all personal social media platforms throughout the competition season.
    • Image & Representation: Conduct yourself in a manner that honors the values of the Miss America Opportunity and our local organization.
    • Decisions made by judges are final
    • Scoresheets are not released to delegates

    Wardrobe & Preparation

    • Competition Ready: Ensure all competition wardrobe (Interview, Talent, Fitness, and Evening Gown) meets organization guidelines and is ready prior to pageant weekend.
    • Practice: Put forth your best effort in preparing your talent presentation, interview skills, and stage presence ahead of the competition.

    Titleholder Expectations

Being selected as a titleholder is both an honor and a responsibility. Titleholders serve as ambassadors for the Miss Southeastern Virginia & Miss Hampton Roads Scholarship Organization, representing our organization, sponsors, and the Miss America Opportunity with professionalism, integrity, and enthusiasm.

We are seeking young women who are committed to personal growth, community service, and representing their title with pride throughout their year of service.

    Community Appearances

    • Complete a minimum of 2–3 appearances each month unless otherwise approved by the directors.
    • Attend organization-sponsored events, rehearsals, workshops, sponsor functions, and community activities whenever possible.
    • Arrive on time, prepared, and dressed appropriately for every appearance.

    Fundraising & Sponsorship

    • Actively participate in the organization's fundraising efforts throughout the year.
    • Assist in securing sponsors, program advertisements, and community partnerships when requested.
    • Support fundraising initiatives that benefit scholarships, production expenses, and organizational growth.

    Community Service Initiative

    • Actively promote and expand your Community Service Initiative through volunteer work, advocacy, and public engagement.
    • Be prepared to speak confidently about your initiative during appearances and interviews.

    Social Media & Promotion

    • Maintain a positive, professional, and engaging social media presence.
Regularly promote appearances, sponsors, organization events, and the Miss America Opportunity.
    • Conduct yourself online in a manner that reflects positively on your title and the organization.

    Wardrobe & Competition Preparation

    • Competition wardrobe—including interview, fitness, evening gown, talent, and any additional competition attire—must be approved by the directors before purchase or alterations whenever possible to ensure it aligns with competition standards and your overall image.
    • Titleholders are expected to maintain their competition wardrobe throughout the year and arrive at appearances well-groomed and appropriately dressed.
Participate in scheduled coaching sessions, mock interviews, rehearsals, and preparation meetings.

    Communication

    • Respond to director communications within 24 hours whenever possible.
    • Keep directors informed of appearance opportunities, schedule conflicts, and any concerns that may affect your responsibilities.

    Our Commitment

    • We recognize that school, work, and family obligations are important, and we strive to support each titleholder in balancing those responsibilities. In return, we ask for dedication, reliability, and a genuine commitment to representing your title to the best of your ability.

Our directors are committed to investing their time, experience, and resources into every titleholder. We ask for that same level of commitment in return. Together, we will prepare you not only for competition, but for a meaningful year of service, leadership, and personal growth.
