  • A Note from your Artist Emma Petitt...

I am very excited to announce my upcoming Art Retreat along the River Rhine!

We will be based on a Luxury River Cruise Ship, the AmaLucia from AmaWaterways, gently making our way from Amsterdam to Basel, along the Captivating Rhine.

The constant changing landscape will be our daily inspiration, from rolling fields to dramatic castles, stretching vineyards and Medieval Towns. We will never be without a stunning view to stir our creative souls.

We will have multiple Art Sessions, intertwined with creative excursions on land.

We will be creating Travel Sketchbooks or Journals to help you build confidence in visualization, mark making, color, texture and pattern.

Join me on this amazing journey!

    Emma

On your walking tour, admire historic architecture and perhaps get a glimpse of the Statue of Liberty, a small replica of the famous version in New York, to commemorate the sculptor’s Colmar birthplace. Those wishing for a more active excursion can cycle through the countryside, or hike through the heart of the Kaiserstuhl, a volcanic region in the Rhine plain known for its unique landscapes, vineyards, and exceptional biodiversity. We will start abstracting the landscape around us into simplified shapes and bold colours. Break from reality by playing with scale and perspective.

    We will:

    • Play with acrylic markers, water soluble crayons and pencils to find new ways to represent the scenery around us.

    Abstract more. Be Bolder.

We will move out of our sketchbooks to create a larger more cohesive painting.

Castles and vineyards, medieval magic, fairytale towns, Extend our vision and imagined story telling… anything is possible.
