Position: Executive Assistant
Position Summary:
Executive Assistant is responsible for assisting Executive Director with the goals of the organization. The Executive Assistant works with the Executive Director to identify and develop new outreach opportunities and improve and sustain BRWA’s existing educational programs to achieve organization’s mission and goals, as defined by the Board of Directors within the current Strategic Plan.
Position Type: Part time (0-10 hours per week) Funding Type: Grant Funded
Salary: $12 - $15 per hour commensurate on qualifications and grant funding
Minimum Qualifications:
A high school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities can be acquired is necessary. Three years progressively responsible office experience, education or training beyond high school may be substituted for experience. Must have formal training in office procedures and use of office equipment. Must have superior organizational skills and accuracy. Excellent problem solving and people skills also required.
Must have the ability to communicate accurately and clearly both orally and in writing; typing speed of 50 WPM or better; maintain professionalism and confidentiality; pleasant telephone manner; able to “think on feet” when dealing with callers; customer service oriented “can do” approach to work.
Knowledge of computers; specifically, experience in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint, Access); Google Suite (Doc, Sheets, Slides, Forms); and experience with web page design programs, social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram) and Internet Software. Must be able to readily adapt to new software programs utilized within the organization.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in education, science, natural resources, or other related field. Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Publisher, PowerPoint, Access); Google Suite (Doc, Sheets, Slides, Forms); and experience with web page design programs. Proficient with Online Marketing Platforms (Constant Contacts, Mail Chimp, etc.), and Database Management. Experience with nonprofit organizations and coordinating education programs/events (including registration, collection of fees, etc.).

Position: Watershed Education Assistant
Position Summary:
The Watershed Education Assistant is responsible to assist BRWA staff with educational programs, specifically at the creek or river while conducting water quality monitoring or macroinvertibrate studies. The Watershed Education Assistant works with the Executive Director and BRWA Staff to identify and develop new outreach opportunities and improve and sustain BRWA’s existing educational programs to achieve organization’s mission and goals, as defined by the Board of Directors within the current Strategic Plan.
Position Type: Part time (0-10 hours per week) Funding Type: Grant Funded
Salary: $12 per hour commensurate on qualifications and grant funding
Required Qualifications:
* Bachelor's Degree in Education, Natural Resources, Environmental Studies, or similar scientific or education field
* Pass a background check
Preferred Qualifications:
* Hold a valid Missouri or Kansas Teaching License
* Experience with environmental and/or educational non-profits
* K-12 Water Education Experience

Position: Water Quality Educator
Teach Water Quality Monitoring:

Assist BRWA staff in teaching water quality monitoring curriculum, specifically T.R.U.E. Blue (Teaching Rivers in an Urban Environment) in area schools.

This curriculum includes in-class portions, and river-side instruction; all four lessons are taught by education assistants.

Prepare all equipment and materials for instruction; including HACH Surface Water Quality Test Kits, chemical bags for each test team of students, gather supplies such as clipboards, charts, buckets, turbidity tubes, gloves, sterile pipettes, and fecal coliform slides, etc.

Contact lead school teacher, as needed.
Water Quality Monitoring Data Coordination:
-
Assist BRWA staff in maintaining and updating database for water quality monitoring data.

Coordinate with T.R.U.E. Blue teachers and students on input of stream monitoring data into database.
-
Maintain established protocol for reporting of stream monitoring data according to MO Stream Team program.

Maintain stream monitoring data files.
Volunteer Recruitment and Coordination:
-
Assist BRWA staff with volunteer recruitment for T.R.U.E. Blue Program.

Schedule and organize volunteers for T.R.U.E. Blue river days.
-
Attend T.R.U.E. Blue field trip days as lead teacher, act as volunteer coordinator and assist students and volunteers with stream monitoring activities.

Send thank you’s to volunteers.

Track volunteer participation and maintain database lists and contact information. Submit reports to Education Coordinator.
BRWA Program Assistance

Assist with planning and implementation of KC Clean Streams event.

Assist BRWA staff at water festivals and other events, as needed.

Assist with other duties as requested.
Compensation Range
$17.00 - $18.00 per hour, dependent on funding. BRWA will endeavor to provide fair and equitable pay, based upon the position’s duties and responsibilities, upon the prospective applicant’s experience, and upon BRWA financial and grant requirements.
