    Adoption Application

    Rev. 4/16/2021
  • Thank you for your interest in adopting from Moby Kit Rescue! We are a no-kill, foster-based 501C3 animal rescue servicing the Southcoast Region of Massachusetts. Please read the information below for more information about adoptions:

Adoption Requirements - All interested individuals MUST complete an application below to be considered for adoption. The application must be completed by the individual assuming custody of the adopted cat(s). We do not adopt out cats as gifts for friends or family members, nor on the behalf of others. You must be at least 21 years old to adopt.

Application Process - Cats are not adopted out on a first-come, first-serve process. Instead, we focus on best fit for each individual cat. This process is intended to ensure long-term success for both the family and pet. We will only move forward with applications that match the criteria outlined in the cat's adoption profile. For example, if an adoptable kitten is seeking a home with another cat, we will only consider applicants that already have a cat. Please read through the cat's adoption profile (on Petfinder or Facebook) very thoroughly before applying. If we receive multiple applications for cat or kitten, we will assess all them and select one to process. As an all-volunteer rescue, we do not have the resources to process every single application that comes in.

Meet & Greets - We are a foster-based rescue, so we only schedule meet and greets with approved applicants that are on hold for a particular kitten/cat. That way we can respect our foster families' homes, privacy and time.

Adoption Fees: The adoption fee is $300 for kittens under 1 year, $250 for adult cats and $200 for seniors. A pair of kittens is $550. These fees include the following: a complete veterinarian checkup, microchip, FeLV & FIV combo testing, spay/neuter, deworming, flea treatment, and age-appropriate vaccines. Please note that Moby Kit does NOT guarantee the health of any cat at our rescue. All known health-related attention and/or dental work is treated prior to the adoption, however it is the responsibility of all adopters to continue their pets medical care for the duration of its life.

Cats can live for 15-20 years, so please make sure your lifestyle allows the time, patience, and ability to cover expenses your new pet will need over the years. Will you be travelling frequently, moving soon, or having children? Try to imagine what your life might look like 10-15 years down the road and make sure that you can still envision having your adopted pet with you. Responsible pet ownership includes routine veterinary care, quality food, preventatives, and other supplies.

  • Employment Status*

  • Are you interested in adopting a specific cat?*
  • Please note that we cannot accept adoption applications unless you are applying for a specific cat or kitten. The reason for this is that we are a small, all-volunteer rescue and do not have the resources to manage a waiting list. While we've used a waiting list in the past, most applicants had already adopted elsewhere by the time we followed up, or simply did not return our emails, so we did not find this approach to be effective for our rescue.

If there are no kittens nor cats posted on our Petfinder page, then we do not have any available at the moment. We may have some in foster care, however we do not accept applications for kittens or cats until they are medically and socially-cleared for adoption. Please keep an eye on our Petfinder page and submit an adoption application only once you find a specific cat or kitten that you are interested in adopting.

We want to be respectful of your time and appreciate your interest in adopting from us!
