    Volunteer Application

    Last Revision: 12/16/2024
  • Thank you for your interest in volunteering for Moby Kit Rescue! We are a no-kill, foster-based 501(c)3 animal rescue servicing the Southcoast region of Massachusetts. We run an adoption program, a low-cost spay/neuter program and a Trap-Neuter-Release (TNR) program. We will help wherever we can!

    As a small, volunteer-run rescue, help is always needed. If you're an animal-lover who wants to make a difference in the lives of cats in need, there are lots of ways that you can get involved. We will provide training and hands-on support during your time as a volunteer. Additionally, time commitments and scheduling may be flexible depending on the area that you're supporting.

    Important:

    • Volunteers must be at least 18 years old. We will also accept volunteers between 13 and 17 years old, with approval from their parent or legal guardian.
    • We are only considering volunteers that are able to commit to a minimum of 1-2 hours per week for at least 4 months.
    • Volunteers are not paid wages or a salary. The entire rescue is volunteer-run.
    • Volunteers are required to have a reliable method of transportation to and from Fall River.

    We would like to learn more about you! Please complete the volunteer application below. If your application is accepted and we're in need of volunteers, we will reach out to share our Volunteer Waiver & Release Form, and schedule a training.

  • Terms & Conditions

  • I understand that volunteering with rescue cats involves potential health risks and requires careful attention to hygiene and safety protocols. I understand and agree that maintaining cleanliness and preventing cross-contamination is crucial to the health and safety of the cats at the rescue. Therefore, I will clean and disinfect any surfaces, equipment, or materials I use during my volunteer shift (if applicable). This includes but is not limited to litter boxes, enclosures, and any areas where cats are housed or handled. I will also wash my hands thoroughly with soap and water before and after handling any cats, after cleaning duties, or any potentially contaminated materials. I understand that despite these efforts, there is a risk of unintentional cross-contamination occurring when I return home. I acknowledge that I am responsible for maintaining cleanliness to the best of my ability while volunteering at Moby Kit Rescue. I release Moby Kit Rescue from any liability related to cross-contamination that may occur outside of its premises.
    *

    I acknowledge that cats can exhibit unpredictable behavior, including scratching, biting, or other defensive actions, even in a controlled environment such as a rescue. I understand that despite the Moby Kit Rescue's efforts to assess and manage the behavior of its cats, there remains a risk of injury or harm to volunteers. I agree to exercise caution and follow safety protocols as instructed by Moby Kit Rescue staff to minimize the risk of injury. I further acknowledge that Moby Kit Rescue cannot guarantee the behavior, health, or temperament of any cat, and I voluntarily assume the risk of interacting with cats during my volunteer activities.
    *

    I agree not to allow the cats under my care to go outdoors. Outdoor exposure increases the risk of injury, illness, and loss. Cats should be kept indoors and in secure enclosures to ensure their safety and prevent potential spread of diseases to other animals.
    *

    I acknowledge and accept the inherent risks associated with handling cats and agree to follow all safety guidelines and recommendations provided by Moby Kit Rescue staff. I understand that proper hygiene, timely communication with Moby Kit Rescue, and adherence to medical protocols are essential for the well-being of the cats and to minimize health risks.
    *

    I certify that I am at least 13 years old, and the information provided in this application is true and accurate. I understand that any misrepresentation or omission may result in the loss of my volunteer privileges with Moby Kit Rescue. I also acknowledge that Moby Kit Rescue reserves the right to deny any application for any reason.
