  • Founded in 1918, Mortar Board is a national honor society recognizing college juniors and seniors for their exemplary scholarship, leadership, and service. For over 108 years, collegiate Mortar Board chapters across the United States choose rising upperclassmen as members who exemplify the ideals of Mortar Board. We are currently accepting applications.

Please consider applying if you have a true love of learning, have a demonstrated commitment to leadership, and have served your campus and/or community with distinction. Mortar Board members are selected for their outstanding achievements, but what truly brings members together is their dedication to helping others. This community of scholars creates change for good, whether on their college campuses, in their communities, or at a global level.

Mortar Board membership is a lifelong distinction that sets students apart from their peers by not only recognizing excellence in scholarship, leadership, and service, but by providing members opportunities for personal and professional development both during their collegiate membership and beyond.

Mortar Board is a non-profit society accredited by the Association of College Honor Societies, the leading certifying body for honor societies, and works in accordance with the mission of the Council for Advancement of Standards (CAS) standards for College Honor Societies. More information about Mortar Board can be found on our website: www.mortarboard.org.
