The 2025 Mississippi Theatre Association State Festival will take place January 15-18, 2026 in Oxford, MS.

The MTA Theatre for Youth Festival will take place on Friday, January 16, 2026.

***Entries prior to September 23, 2025 at 8AM will NOT be accepted***

Festival Fee: The performance fee for the Theatre For Youth festival is $50. Include your Theatre for Youth festival payment in your organizational registration (due December 15).

Theatre for Youth Purpose

The purpose of the Theatre for Youth Festival at MTA is to promote love and appreciation of theatre for young performers and audience members in Mississippi. The festival achieves this purpose by creating an entry point for festival group participants, especially secondary and community groups introducing theatre to young audiences in Mississippi, as well as engaging in outreach to community and school groups.

The deadline to register for Theatre for Youth is November 15, 2025.

Due to scheduling, space is limited for performing organizations.
- Performance slots will be assigned to organizations based on the submission of the Theatre for Youth registration on a first-come, first-served basis.
- A waitlist will be created once all slots are filled.
- Organizations will be notified of their waitlisted status.
- If performance slots become available, waitlisted organizations will be contacted in the waitlist order.

In order to comply with copyright laws, participating organizations must pay the necessary performance rights to the copyright holder prior to performing a work. Review the rights information in the script, determine the licensing entity, and secure permission to perform.

In addition to performance rights, companies planning to make cuts or alterations to the script must receive written confirmation that the rights-holder and the playwright permit your proposed changes.

There are certain circumstances under which companies do not have to secure licensing rights. Typically, these occur if the playwright is a member of the producing company or if work is in the Public Domain.

Companies are also responsible for obtaining appropriate permission to use published music, sound, and other forms of art (including but not limited to visual and photographic art [including still photos, movies, and videos]).
