The JB Resident Award for Global Neurosurgery supports a young neurosurgeon's participation in NOF's Educational Surgical Mission to the Philippines or Mongolia. The goal of the award is to obtain valuable work experience in global neurosurgery, acquire new perspectives and respect for other healthcare models, and gain personal growth and inspiration to advance neurosurgical care in underserved communities globally. The awardee is expected to be involved in the planning and execution, and to take on tasks for the success of the ESM.
ESM date(s) may be anytime between May and October of the following year.
Candidate must be:
a. A resident/fellow in a neurosurgical training program in the USA.
b. Able to commit to 10 days of their own time for actual ESM (may need to use time off from their program). Planning for ESM starts several months prior and is conducted via scheduled Zoom meetings,
c. Interested in engaging in global neurosurgery during their career.
