Important Dates
- Submissions Open: June 3rd
- Submission Deadline: July 20th
Eligibility
- Open to students in rising grades 7–12
- Middle School Division: Rising grades 7–8
- High School Division: Rising grades 9–12
- Seniors completing high school this summer are eligible to submit
- Participants must currently live on the East Coast of the United States
Entry Limits
- Participants may submit up to 2 entries total
- Entries must be in 2 different categories
- If you are submitting two entries, please complete the form once for each submission.
Cost:
The Next Wave Summer Showcase is completely free to enter.
Upload Formats
- Writing: PDF only
- Poetry: PDF, DOCX, or TXT
- Visual Art: JPEG or PNG
- Photography: JPEG
- Film/Video: MP4 or MOV
- Business & Invention Pitches: PDF, PowerPoint, and Google Slides
Originality & AI Policy
- All work must be original
- Plagiarized, stolen, or copied work will be disqualified
- Excessive AI-generated content is not allowed
- Limited AI assistance is only permitted for certain design/presentation elements such as logos or animation frames
- All other uses of AI are prohibited.

Art Notes: You may submit up to 5 images per category. For Film and Animation, you may submit a completed short film or animated short in place of images. For Photography and Digital Art, you may submit a cohesive series or collection as a full project.
Writing Notes:
1 side of a paper = 1 page
Ex: Front and back counts as 2 pages
All writing submissions must be typed and clearly readable
*Both Innovation and Entrepreneurship categories are open to concepts, prototypes, or already-existing projects and initiatives.
Restricted Content
Submissions may not include:
- Hate speech or discrimination
- Explicit or graphic content
- Dangerous or illegal activities
- Spam or unrelated submissions
- Harmful, threatening, or inappropriate material
Important Notes
By submitting:
- You confirm the work is your own
- You agree that Next Wave may feature your work (with credit) on our website, social media, and digital magazine
- You retain full ownership of your work
- Submissions that do not follow guidelines may be disqualified
