LIVING NECKLACE (grades K-8) Grow your own necklace! This kit contains enough materials for 35 students to plant popcorn, and Indian corn seeds in a mini zip-lock and the yarn necessary to create a living necklace. Given a few days, and some water, the necklace will be alive with growing sprouts - baby plants for students to observe. An excellent activity for teaching plant growth requirements and parts of plants. LESSON: Inherited Traits in the Living Corn Necklace 3rd-5th & 6th-8th)WOOL SPINNING KIT (grades K-11) Make social studies memorable with hands-on activities that involve students with the materials and techniques used for centuries to spin, dye, and felt wool. This kit contains 15 feet of wool top, 30 wool-spinning hooks, and instructions. LESSONS: From Wool to Wheel (3rd-5th), Clothes on the Grow (6th-8th), Bartering Through the Seasons (3rd-5th), Baa Ram Ewe (K-2)SOURCE SEARCH (grades K-12) If you were to take a moment to look around and identify the items you rely on every day, they would likely include food, clothing, modes of transportation such as cars or bikes, building materials such as steel or wood, various technological devices such as cell phones or computers, and several tools and machines. Where did these items and raw materials used to make them originate? LESSONS: Source Search grades K-2, grades 3-5, grades 6-8 and grades 9-12FARMING IN A GLOVE (grades 1-5) Grow your own farm in a glove! This kit contains instructions and enough materials for 35 students to plant five different seeds in the fingers of a food handler's glove and the cotton necessary to sprout them. Given a few days, and some water, the glove will be alive with growing sprouts - baby plants that your students can observe. An excellent activity for teaching plant growth and genetic differences. LESSON: Farming in a Glove (K-2)POLLINATION SIMULATION (grades 3-6) Simulate the role worker bees play in pollination by conducting a pollination simulation.
