NIAGARA SLAM 2026
TERMS AND CONDITIONS, ASSUMPTION OF RISK AND LIABILITY WAIVER
IMPORTANT NOTICE
By registering for or participating in the Niagara Slam 2026 Tennis Tournament (the “Tournament”), you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions, including the assumption of risk, waiver of liability, and indemnity provisions described below.
These terms apply to all participants, spectators accompanying participants, coaches, volunteers, and any person attending the Tournament.
The Tournament is organized by the Niagara Region Tennis Network (“NRTN”).
1. Definitions
For the purposes of these Terms:
“Tournament” includes Niagara Slam 2026 and all related matches, warm-ups, practices, ceremonies, travel, and associated activities.
“Released Parties” includes:
Niagara Region Tennis Network (NRTN) tournament organizers and directors
club directors and board members volunteers, officials, referees and staff
players and participants sponsors, partners and advertisers contractors, vendors and service providers facility owners and operators permit authorities and public agencies The Corporation of the City of Welland, any employees, officers, agents or representatives of the above.
2. Assumption of Risk
Participation in tennis and sporting events involves inherent risks.
By participating in the Tournament, participants acknowledge and accept that risks may include but are not limited to:
falls, slips, collisions and impact injuries sprains, fractures, muscle injuries or concussions, injuries caused by tennis balls, racquets or equipment, injuries resulting from court surfaces or weather conditions, heat exhaustion, dehydration or medical emergencies,actions, negligence or conduct of other participants or spectators, travel to and from Tournament venues.
Participants voluntarily assume all risks, whether known or unknown, foreseeable or unforeseeable.
3. Health and Medical Responsibility
Participants confirm that they are physically capable of participating in the Tournament.
Each participant is responsible for:
their own medical condition obtaining any necessary medical advice
carrying their own medical, accident or liability insurance. The organizers do not provide medical insurance coverage.
4. Release and Waiver of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by the laws of the Province of Ontario and Canada, participants agree to release and hold harmless the Released Parties from any and all claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs or expenses arising from participation in the Tournament, including but not limited to:
personal injury or death illness or communicable disease exposure property loss or damage economic loss or consequential damages.
This waiver applies regardless of whether such claims arise from negligence, acts or omissions of any Released Party.
5. Indemnification
Participants agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Released Parties against any claims, damages, costs or legal expenses resulting from:
their actions or omissions violation of Tournament rules damage to facilities, equipment or property injury caused to other participants or spectators.
6. Facility and Property Damage
Participants are responsible for any damage caused to Tournament facilities or equipment, including:
tennis courts or surfaces ,nets, fencing, lighting or seating
buildings, washrooms or other infrastructure. Costs for repair or replacement may be charged to the responsible participant.
7. Conduct and Sportsmanship
All participants must adhere to principles of sportsmanship and respect.
Tournament organizers reserve the right to disqualify or remove participants for:
unsafe play, abusive behaviour, harassment or misconduct, violation of Tournament rules, conduct that may endanger others. Entry fees may not be refunded in such cases.
8. Scheduling, Weather and Event Changes
Participants acknowledge that Tournament organizers may modify schedules due to:
weather conditions, court availability, safety concerns, public health requirements
unforeseen circumstances. Matches may be rescheduled, relocated, shortened or cancelled at the discretion of the organizers.
9. Personal Property
Participants are responsible for their own belongings. The Released Parties shall not be liable for theft, loss, or damage to personal property.
10. Media and Promotional Use
Participants grant permission for photographs, video recordings, live streaming, or other media captured during the Tournament to be used by NRTN and its partners for promotional, marketing, media or sponsorship purposes without compensation.
11. Communicable Disease Acknowledgement
Participants acknowledge that participation in sporting events may increase exposure to communicable diseases including COVID-19 or other illnesses.
Participants voluntarily assume these risks and agree not to attend if experiencing symptoms of illness.
12. Minors
Participants under 18 years of age must have a parent or legal guardian complete the registration process and accept these Terms and Conditions on their behalf.
13. Governing Law
These Terms and Conditions shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada.
14. Acceptance of Terms
By completing registration for Niagara Slam 2026, participants confirm that:
they have read and understood these Terms and Conditions
they voluntarily agree to the assumption of risk and liability waiver
they accept these Terms as a condition of participation.
