NSNA members are invited to apply to serve on the 2024-2025 Resolutions Committee (one chairperson and five members; 3 alternates).
DUTIES OF THE RESOLUTIONS COMMITTEE:
- Review all resolutions submitted for presentation to the House of Delegates;
- Ensure workable implementation of resolutions;
- Work with resolution authors to edit, rewrite, and/or combine resolutions for clarification of facts and style;
- Consult with resolution authors prior to and at the convention;
- Request information on any pending resolutions;
- Refuse resolutions or parts of resolutions that are not feasible or in conflict with NSNA’s bylaws, that are submitted after the deadline, that are incomplete, or that duplicate NSNA policy.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Resolutions Committee Members must:
- Have knowledge of the activities and policies of NSNA;
- An ability to research, organize and analyze facts;
- The capacity to communicate clearly verbally and in writing;
- Be enrolled in a nursing program and be a student member of NSNA throughout the 2024-25 school year and attend the 2025 Annual Convention (April 7, 2025, Arrival in Seattle, WA; departure April 14, 2025);*
- Have an above average capacity and motivation to learn and carry out the duties and responsibilities of the appointed position;
- Have an ability to make and justify decisions;
- Work well in a team environment;
- Be objective in representing NSNA;
- Have reliable internet connection as all of the committee work is accomplished via email;
- Not be a candidate for national office while serving on the committee (note: if a Resolutions Committee member becomes a candidate for office they must resign from the committee).
* Students graduating from Diploma or Associate Degree Programs in spring, summer or fall 2024 must verify acceptance in an RN-to-BSN program to be eligible to serve on the committee. NSNA will verify enrollment directly with the nursing program for all committee members in fall 2024 and spring 2025 semesters.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
CHAIR
The chairperson must attend the 2024 NSNA MidYear Conference (expenses to be paid by NSNA) in Louisville, KY, October 31 -November 3, 2023 (arrives on October 30);
EXPENSES PAID BY NSNA:
Transportation (includes airfare), housing (double room), and per diem meal allowance is provided by NSNA.
COMMITTEE
ALL members of the Resolutions Committee must attend the 2025 NSNA Annual Convention (expenses to be paid by NSNA) in Seattle, WA, April 9-14, 2025 (committee arrives on April 7, 2025).
EXPENSES PAID BY NSNA:
Transportation (includes airfare), housing (double room), and per diem meal allowance is provided by NSNA.
Chairperson Responsibilities:
- Presides at a "Writing a Resolution" workshop at the MidYear Conference;
- Coordinates the work of the committee; informs constituents about the resolutions process;
- Briefs the Council of State Presidents;
- Presides over the Resolutions Hearings during Annual Convention reports resolutions accepted by the committee to the House of Delegates during the Annual Convention.

Committee Member Responsibilities:
Work with the chairperson and resolution authors prior to and at the Convention; solicit, screen, edit, and prepare resolutions for presentation to the House of Delegates prior to and at the Convention.
TERM OF APPOINTMENT:
Appointments will be made by the NSNA Board in May 2024. Service ends at the conclusion of the 2024 House of Delegates.
