• Welcome!

DanceWize NSW volunteers are peers to the communities of people who use drugs at music festivals.
  •

To volunteer with us, you should have lived experience of drug use, love attending music festivals and have existing drug harm reduction knowledge.

After assessing your application, our team will contact you to get to know you better. You will then need to complete some online training modules and attend an online group induction. After that, you'll be onboarded onto to the team.

    Excited to meet you!

  • What are we looking for and what do we expect?

  • We're looking for people who are:

    • Willing to give up part of their night or festival experience to support others
    • Reliable, punctual, and adaptable
    • Able to hold strong personal and professional boundaries

What we expect from all volunteers:

    • Stay active on our communication platform (Slack) and keep in touch
    • Model safe and responsible behaviour at all times, not just during shifts
    • Raise any concerns, issues, or hazards openly and promptly

    Time commitment:

    • You choose your level of involvement, but if you sign up for an event, you're expected to attend all related meetings and briefings
    • Mandatory training must be completed as required

    Professionalism:

While DanceWize is a fun environment, it's also a professional one. You're expected to conduct yourself accordingly on shift and on site.

    Eligibility:

    • Aged 18 or older
    • Physically and psychologically suited to the role
    • Not holding any other role at the event (e.g. bar staff, security, first aid)
    • Current Working With Children Check (NSW or some other interstate equivalents) required for all-ages events
  • Commitment and engagement:
Joining DanceWize means being part of the program, not just showing up to shifts.

We expect volunteers to stay connected, engage with the community, and be present in Slack.

We know shifts fill fast, so we don't measure engagement by shifts alone but, if we stop hearing from you, we'll check in, and if there's been no engagement over time, we may need to open your spot to someone ready to be active.

  • Current Availability

We receive lots of applications and need to maintain a small enough volunteer pool so that everyone gets an opportunity to work. It's important that your application stands out, by being unique, handcrafted and reflects your lived experience.

  • Which of these upcoming events can you attend?*
  • If you can't make any of these events, please consider applying at a different time when you have more availability, or we have more spots.

It is not a requirement to have your First Aid certificate (unless you want to be a Team Leader) but it is highly recommended.
