Please read and sign the following so we can better serve you.

- Please call if you have a sick animal or emergency.
- Text messages sent after hours will be read the next business day.

- Text messaging is our preffered method of communication.
- Pharmacy prescription approvals and lab results may take up to 7 business days unless otherwise directed.
Valid client patient relationship (VCPR)
- To maintain status as a current client, a valid VCPR requires a once yearly farm visit for routine veterinary care or consultation.
- Equine patients should see us every 6 months for preventative care (wellness exams, vaccines and dental care) to ensure access to priority emergency service coverage.
- Sick animal visits do not qualify for establishing yourself as a current client.
Emergencies
- After hours emergency services are only provided to patients with a valid VCPR.
- IE another horse on your property that has not been examined by Dr. Menacho does not have a valid VCPR.
- If you are having an after hours emergency, you must call and leave a voicemail.
- Missed calls without a voicemail will not be returned.
- True Emergencies Only: Please reserve after-hour calls for non-preventable emergencies. If your animal has had an issue for several days and it is not urgent, we may schedule a visit during regular business hours.
- Breeding Animals: If you are breeding animals, it is essential to be familiar with normal labor stages and comfortable performing a vaginal/cervical exam.
- Determining Urgency: Unless your animal is experiencing dystocia, large lacerations, broken bones, or acute eye pain in horses, if they are eating, drinking, and walking normally, the issue can typically wait until the next business day.
- Respect for Availability: Please understand the importance of giving our staff adequate time to rest and recharge.
- We recommend EVERYONE have a back-up plan in place to haul their animals (own a trailer or have a friend to call that owns a trailer.)
- For ruminants and pigs: University of Florida in Gainesville or to Auburn in Alabama (preferred).
- Horses should be hauled to one of the major clinics in Ocala (Peterson & Smith, EMCO, etc)
- Please keep in mind our practice radius is 2 hours from tip to tip. You may have a 2-4 hour wait for a veterinarian to arrive on your farm
- Emergency calls after 9 PM likely will be pushed until the next business day unless it is life threatening especially if this is issue has been going on several days.
- Emergency fees: daytime $150, before 9 PM $250/$400 A La Carte Equine Patients, after 9 PM $450
- Equine patients seeing OHLAVS on an annual basis or outsourcing dental care are considered "A La Carte Patients"
