THOMSON TYNDALL INTER LIVERY REAL TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIP & DINNER

Following the success of the previous six Inter Livery Real Tennis Championships, we shall return to The Queen’s Club for this year’s event that will take place on Wednesday, 6th November 2024. The day will conclude with a champagne reception and dinner.
Our sponsor this year is Thomson Tyndall, a financial planning and investment management firm based in Westminster which provides long-term, bespoke and impartial financial planning and investment advice for private client families, small businesses and charities across the country.
Competitions
The intent is to run two concurrent competitions, divided by handicap, for up to 24 pairs. Each competition will involve a Round Robin element followed by semi-finals and finals, but the actual formats will be subject to the number of entries.
Rules
The following rules will apply:
- Each player must be a member of, or employed by, a City Livery Company
- Entrants must have a valid current Real Tennis Online (RTO) handicap, and be a member of the Tennis & Rackets Association (which provides insurance cover for the event)
- As in previous events, RTO doubles handicaps will be used except that the maximum combined handicap will be 65
- Any players without a recorded match on RTO since 3rd August 2024 will be penalised four handicap points.
- The handicaps will be taken from RTO 9am Sunday 3rd November 2024
- Priority will be given to pairs from the same company, but individuals may enter, with partners being found for them by the organisers, where possible (singletons should still complete the entry form)
Catering
- Competitors and guests will be able to purchase their own refreshments and/or lunch from the Bar and Grille
- A Pol Roger champagne reception will be held before dinner
- A four-course dinner will be served accompanied by fine wines supplied by Burnett and Herbert Fine Wines and port by Dow’s
- Masters, Prime Wardens, Wardens, Liverymen, Freemen, family and friends are encouraged to attend to support their teams and to stay for the champagne reception and dinner
Cost
The cost of the event this year is as follows:
- For competitors, the combined ticket for the tennis, champagne reception & dinner is £180
- For supporters/guests, the champagne reception and dinner, £135
- For Tennis only, £65
Entry
Entries this year are kindly being managed by the Tennis and Rackets Association (T&RA)
- Participants and guests are required to complete this form
- If your Company wishes to enter more than one pair, please complete and submit a second form with the relevant details for the second pair
Timings
- Tennis – 07:00-19.30
- The semi-final rounds will not be played before 16:00
- Champagne reception – 19:45
- Dinner – 20.15
Dress
- To comply with Queen’s Club regulations, competitors are required to wear all white clothing for tennis.
- Dress for dinner will be black tie.
